The Raven occurs in all provinces and the NW Territories. "The Birds of Canada" by Godfrey.

Redpolls breed in the northern parts of the provinces so are not well-known to 'southerners'.

And ask the eagle to pick one of the 20-some nations that claims them as the national bird. That would free up countries for other worthy birds. Those eagles are so greedy.

The Great Blue Heron is the Official bird of New Brunswick. Hmmm... I had better check that out on accounta I can't remember where (or even if) I read that.

Well now! The balsam fir... I was sure it was the Dogwood... I mean, I was POSITIVE about the heron and the dogwood. Guess I choked on both.

Alaska has the Golden Eagle too. Lots of ravens. Lots of Black Fly. Hard to come up with something that Canada ha that is not also in Alaska.

So far as I know, we don't have all four species of loon. Wouldn't bet on it, though.
