in terms of planning for disasters, there is way too much worry about a terrorist attack (which as bad as it may be can kill maybe a few thousand people) a pandemic such as the SPanish influenza is a far worse possibility as it may wipe out millions.

Depending on source/storage, the shelf-life for Tamiflu is 18months 2years.

Do not use uncertain sources.

PLEASE go to your physician - talk over the symptoms - secure an advance prescription - and then if/when your fever soars to 102 with additional symptoms immediately purchase a fresh batch from your local pharmacy, consume the prescribed doseage, and return to your physician.

INFLUENZA - and its treatment is NOT to be taken lightly. It is not the common cold.

Tamiflu works (from my personal experience, three times, over six years) BUT...see a doctor, PLEASE!!!

The guy who discovered that wild birds on the Great Barrier Reef in 1969 were the source of flu and that flu passed from birds to humans and not from humans to birds as was the previous scientific wisdom, was interviewed on Aussie TV this morning. He went on to develop the basis on which anti-virals were developed. As he said, "With 1.7 billion doses of Tamiflu made, if I had asked for a dollar a dose, I'd be a happy man!".

I kinda suspect that quite a few people in several countries had a hand in the discovery and production of antivirals. Over the years I've noticed that it's very, very rare for only one person to "discover" something, whether person is Alexander Fleming or Albert Einstein or Chris Columbus.
