Dear guys and gals,

Please help me I've fallen...in love with a song. It's by Cathy Ryan and also done by Mary O'Hara. It'a called Oro mo bhadin-My little boat.
I've managed to write it down foneticaaly but I'd rather have the real lyrics. Translation is not necessary..I've had great help from you before...

If you spell it with an I (bhaidin) and search you will get a thread that has the lyrics.
If the blue clicky works below you can get the the thread that way.

Here's what I have:

Crochfa' mé seolta 'gus gabha' mé siar
Óró mo churraichín ó
'S go hOíche Fhéil' Eoin ní thiocfa' mé 'niar
Óró no bháidín

Óró mo churraichín ó,
Óró no bháidín
Tarraigí, tarraigí, tarraigí go buan,
Ò-ó-r ó, mo bháidín!

'S nach breá í mo bháidín ag snámh ar a' gcuan
'S na céaslaí á dtarraingt go láidir 's go buan

Nach éachtach a léimnach thar tonntracha
'S nach éadtroim í iompar anois thar an trá

As far as I know this is a traditional song.

The lyrics I gave in the above post are from Shay Black. Chanteyranger and I (radriano) recorded the song with verses in English as follows:

Ó Ró Mo Bháidín

I'll set my sail and to west I will steer
Óró mo churraichín ó*
And 'til midsummer night you will not see me here
Óró no bháidín*

Óró mo churraichín ó,
Óró no bháidín
Haulaway, haulaway, haulaway together,
Ò-ó-r ó, mo bháidín!

Isn't she fine on the bay as she glides
As the pull on the rowlocks so sturdy she guides

How wondrous her leaping the waves o'er and o'er
And so light when we haul her up over the shore

I'll set my sail and to west I will steer
And 'til midsummer night you will not see me here

I did a version of English lyrics for the Santa Barbara Music Publisher of choral music.
You can get it from their site. There it is called Oro My Currach .
