The favorite teacher thread provoked this.

Mentors. I have been very fortunate to have had a number of them. Some of them have understood themselves to be mentors and some were oblivious. I thank them all, living and dead.

One unintentional mentor I will thank here, personally, is Bill D.

Thank you, Bill. You continue to teach me alot about the dicipline of thinking clearly.

Thanks from me, too, Bill, for the same reasons. Great thread, Janie.

I've had several in my life, starting with my father, and also in completely different ways, my mother. A favorite uncle. In some respects even my present boss. I am always open to better ways of being in the world.

I have to agree that Bill D has done a lot of sharing of very useful material here. Though this thread wasn't started just for Bill, it's good to recognize his help to others.

I'd say my primary mentors at Mudcat have been Sandy Paton, Rick Fielding, and Art Thieme. All three have encouraged me to dig deeper and learn more. I stand in awe of these three wise men, but they always treated me with absolute kindness and respect. I think it has been one of the great privileges of my life to have known these three me.

Oh, and I like Bill D a lot, too.

I could name many people who have been valuable mentors but those names would be meaningless here. What all of my mentors share is they were or are positive role models.
