Subject: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: Little Hawk Date: 04 Jan 05 - 01:44 PM It baffles me. Every day I get up, look in the mirror, tousle my luxuriant hair a bit and say, "How'm I lookin' today??? Ooooo! I'm lookin' GOOOOOD!" I bet the same thing happens to most of you too. But why is it? Given the silly and pointless things we've all done over the years, and in some cases the outright substance abuse...such as freebasing hamsters...it's amazing to me that we are all still looking this good! In fact, it may be proof of the existence of a compassionate and loving God. Whaddya think? |

I've been getting them in my eyebrows for some months, but now I've turned 50 I'm impatient for the main event -- Whitening Of The Topknot. I think we're so good-lookin' because we think good thoughts, eat pretty well what we want, and wear comfortable shoes. Subject: RE: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: Little Hawk Date: 04 Jan 05 - 06:44 PM No, it's not a trick question. It's an antidote to the "why are we so stupid" BS... We're not stupid. People are magnificent. People have tremendous courage in the face of life's challenges. If we could actually see ourselves as we truly are, we would see the very beauty of angels in the making. And it's also a thread to encourage some good humour at the same time. Cynicism and negative thinking are their own punishment. You know, it works this way for me: 1. When you're a kid, you seek play and fun, and try to please your mother (in all probability). The last part is tricky, cos it sometimes conflicts with having fun! :-) 2. When you're an adolescent, you seek to fit in with your peers, survive school, and investigate the other gender. 3. When you're a young adult, you seek a mate (temporary or permanent) and a role in life. 4. When you're an older adult, you seek to master the challenges of mating and dealing with your chosen role(s) in life. 5. When you're still older...if you have enough wisdom...you begin to look within. You seek greater wisdom. You seek innner peace. You seek a love that is larger than love for just one other person or just your mate and children. 6. If you become quite wise, you seek enlightenment. If you find it, all the rest becomes clear. ***** Some people never get past steps 1, 2, and 3. That's up to them. One can get stuck at any stage of the above process and think that that is "all there is". |

I checked her out and she seemed fine, but my uncle insisted: "She don't look so good." Fellow drove up to Quebec to buy the horse for $7,500. My uncle said, "She don't look so good." Fellow said she looked fine, and he loaded her into the trailer and drove off. Next day he phoned my uncle from Malone, New York. He ranted at my uncle for a few minutes and ended his tirade by saying, "The horse you sold me is blind." My uncle replied, "That's what I said. She don't look so good." |

Subject: RE: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: Little Hawk Date: 05 Jan 05 - 01:26 AM I wonder if Jean Chretien was once good looking? |
Subject: RE: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: Metchosin Date: 05 Jan 05 - 02:16 AM Little Hawk, some of Chretien's facial imperfections were caused by childhood polio which left him with, among other things, a twisted mouth. A few years ago we were at a party and had introduced our friend Don to another friend, Bob. Later in the evening Bob said that he had really enjoyed Don's company and what a great guy he was, but "Boy was he drunk, did you see his eyes?" Poor Bob was sort of gobsmacked and sick with remorse, when we told him that Don was in fact, legally blind, hence the curious cast to his eyes. Don was also a bit drunk, but we didn't let Bob entirely off the hook until a bit later. BG |

Subject: RE: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: Rapparee Date: 05 Jan 05 - 10:17 PM Saying the Mackenzie King had a few peculiarities is like saying that there are a few drops of water in the ocean, or that a few snowflakes went to create a glacier, or that I have a few peculiarities, or that a dog has only a few fleas, or that there are a few stars in the sky. (NB: I'm picking on Canadians here. The US has had folks with a few peculiarities, too.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: Peace Date: 05 Jan 05 - 10:24 PM S'okay, Rapaire. His proclivity was well known after his death. Canadians now know that his mother was dead at the time he sought her advice. However, we have an appointed Senate in Canada, and the House often seeks their advice, too. We see that as being the same thing. Little has changed over the years in Canada. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: Little Hawk Date: 06 Jan 05 - 12:23 AM Mackenzie King once asked his dog what to do about a hostile editorial in the Ottawa Gazette. The dog said, "Piss on it." And that's where the term "yellow press" actually came from. |

Subject: RE: BS: Why are we so Good Lookin'? From: flattop Date: 07 Jan 05 - 01:06 AM You'd think that Little Hawk's good looks would have procured him swelling parts in Hollywood's photographic medium. Yet he confesses his trickling frustrations in another thread. However, there was that time when the Little Crows chased Little Hawk away from Crow Creek, into the dry summer plains. Little Hawk wandered for days, starving, alone, except for a Big Goat whom he befriended. Then, one day, they found a tin of film. Big Goat nuzzled it until the lid came off. The film leader loosened around the spool and Big Goat ate a few frames. Little Hawk tried to butt in and nibble the edge, but Big Goat kicked him away and greedily ate the lot. When there was nothing left but the spool, Little Hawk looked enviously at his big companion and said, "Well, what was it like?" "It was good," said Big Goat, burping, "But the book was better." |
