Hello - not strictly that "folkie" I know but this is the only place I could think to ask ...

Looking for full lyric and/or mp3 of Harry Lauder's song "The Lads Who Fought and Won". I've only managed to find one verse and an mp3 of that one verse despite a trawl through likely sites (and countless others).

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

I cannot remember the composer. Lauder lost a son in WWI. When Malvina Reynolds wrote "We Hate To See Them Go" in the late 1940's, I believe this song may have been part of her inspiration.

in the chorus, the line given above as

should of course read

A' the lassies will be loving a' the laddies

(All the lassies will be loving all the laddies)

Seem to recollect that Lauder refused to cancel a concert on the
   day after receiving news of the death of his son[1916?]& this
   was one of the songs that he sung at that concert.
