Plenty of space to park (if you can resist all the beers), otherwise an easy walk to buses and trams.
Gibraltar Street and Shalesmoor are temporarily One Way (Northward only), so those coming Southward on the A61 need to follow the tramlines to the next lights, turn left onto Meadow Street / Scotland Street, then left at the end of Scotland Street, then left at the roundabout to get onto Gibraltar Street.

We probably don't need quite so many separate threads for a regular monthly session, surely? Why not try reviving the last one you started, instead of silting the place up with pointless repetition? You could also ask Joe for a "permathread". That solved our problem with Julie Ellison's agent/boyfriend, who had taken to starting a new thread every time she got a gig somewhere. Everything posted here is archived, you know, and it's getting out of hand...

Certainly can. errr, I can't think of any decisive French naval battles to sing about.
Anyway, I'll be in the Netherlands on Sunday. You could get Paul to sing 'Dutch on the Medway' as a balance.

Depends whether or not you can sing French, Jim. See thread   History and background of a French song.  (Le Trente et Un du Mois d'Août) for -I think- the best example of a French "we beat the English at sea" song. It's a good song, even if fictional.

This isn't intended to be a controversial question; the title 'singing session' confuses me slightly; are singers who accompany themselves on instruments welcome, or is the session 'voices only'? Is the odd tune ok? Inquiring minds (who are thinking about coming along) need to know...

Hello,
This is intended to be a voices only session with lots of loud chorus songs for people to join in with. I know it's restrictive but there are so many tune sessions in Sheffield that I decided that there was room for a voices only session.
I do also run a singing and tunes session on the second sunday of the month at the Hillsborough Hotel if you want that kind of thing.
Hope to see you at one or the other or both!

Cheers
Rich

Thanks for the clarification Rich. I'll give this one a miss, if that's ok. Nothing against a good chorus or two; I just struggle with a whole evening of them, especially the long ones that tend to have a ...now...between each verse of the story! Short attention span I suppose. May well get along to the Hillsborough Hotel sesh though. What time is kick off?

For the benefit of those who (like me) don't drive into Sheffield city centre very often and so may not be up-to-date with the roadworks, there are directions via www.sheffieldfolkfestival.org; turn left after the industrial museum to get to the Tavern.

There are people still trying to get home from the last one. They are getting better - but not by much. Bring subsistence supplies at the very least in case you get lost.
