Got home yesterday after 12 hours of near continuous music on Sat (3pm - 3am!).

Highlight for me:
Gizmo singing Zombie - excellent

It was great to hear all the other singers / musicians who took part.

Low points
Noisy crowd that invaded the back of Fiddler's at the end of the concert.

Been back a couple of hours, journey from Stansted to home took as longer than the flight from Belfast to Stansted!

Had a fantastic time, even though I didn't get to sing much and Ireland lost the rugby in the last minutes.

It was a lovely chance to reunite with Skipjack, Oaklet, MudGuard, Skarpi and Giok, but even better to meet for the first time with Guna (spelling??) aka Mrs Skarpi, Bente and Maryrrf.

I'm now engaged in trying to translate Icelandic sleeve notes on the CD that we 'acquired' in the raffle and eating the chocolates!

Thanks to everyone who helped prepare the meal we had Sunday evening - I'm afraid the pancake workshop never happened, but I can vouch for MudGuard's prowess at mashing swedes (red turnip or rutabaga) and chopping apples - although nothing exceeds his expertise at emptying food pots!

Barholme was also home to some divers who were training in the Lough and I managed to walk out of the front door on Saturday, and straight into my fantasy ~ 3 fit blokes dressed in rubber!

LTS - running a cold bath now...

Been back for a few hours meself and I am fecking knackered - unfortunately did not get to bring some fecking whiskey back with me due to EEC regulations. Other than thet the flight was good, and I can honestly say that I'm not afraid of flying, and I prefer it to coach travel.

I recommend Adairs to anyone who wants a good breakfast and no washing up afterwards. It was lovely.

Thank you Herge for the compliment, I'm glad you liked it.

For me there was no low point at the weekend, apart from tummy muscle pains from laughing so much. It was excellent meeting everyone of the catters and the non-cats too. And the rubber men...and the rugby players....

Sparkles is still upset at Skarpi for ignoring her. She is downstairs as I write with the sulks.

I am happy I can now put faces to names, and am loughing (I'm running for cover) forward to my next trip there.

Skipjack - is your accordian still smiling Sparkles wants to know?
She particularly took to Gulliver and Gerry (spelling?).

Sparkles and I can't wait to get to the next mudgather - wherever it may be.

Thank you all for such a good weekend.

Great weekend!

Unfortunately we had to leave early to get back to Dublin to see the match.

After Saturday's session lasting into the wee hours in Barholme we didn't make it back to our B&B (Different Strokes--massage, remember?)as it was pouring rain so we grabbed a couple of hours kip on the couches in the lounge there. Woke up around 8:00 by the sounds of the staff moving about and walked back to the B&B, showered and had breakfast and then discovered they didn't accept credit cards and had to return to town for cash, then headed off.

Upon hitting Dublin with half an hour to go to the start of the game we ran smack into the crowds and traffic moving around Croke Park. Luckily the Gardaí kept things moving, until we were held up by a fight in the middle of Dorset Street between a taxi driver and his irate Chinese passenger. Once this was sorted out Gerry decided to take a "short cut" via Capel street, just as an ambulance arrived for a elderly gent who had collapsed on the street--we were stuck behind the ambulance for about 20 mins. So after an eventful day we managed to get to our local for most of the game--the French just pipped us!

Many thanks to all who made this a great time and hope to see some of you soon! I'll place photos on my Roguery site later in the week.

So great to see everyone again. Sorry I didn't make it out yesterday evening - I was rather under the weather (and it wasn't even drink-related, grrr) and my ma packed me off to bed with a hot water bottle before 10pm. Had a dander down to the hostel this morning, but just missed yous.

Ah Fibs, I was looking for your arrival at Dumigans on Sunday, and was surprised you didn't make it, and now I know why! All I can say is this, illness is not an acceptable excuse for missing any part of a Mudgathering! Only death is an acceptable excuse, and a solicitor's letter accompanied by a death certificate, must be supplied in all cases.
Smashing weekend, great to see all the folks again, and I also add my welcome to Gizmo, who fitted in right away, and has a lovely voice.
Between raffle money, donations, and the auctioning off of Mary's donated raffle prize of a bottle of bourbon, [well done Terry!], we have raised £120 for Mudcat.

I'll write down my thoughts about the Loughstock 007 weekend here - ordered by random ...

What an unusual picture of me, Bente - me close to some pot of food ...
I can't understand why Skarpi wanted to change my Mudcat name from MudGuard to Potaslekker (spelling?) ...

On the topic of renaming: there was a suggestion of renaming the event from Loughstock to Lockstock as there has been another Lock out situation ...

My flight to Munich landed 15 minutes early - thus the total delay in flights for this weekend is drastically reduced to a mere 13:15 hours (11 hours into London, 2.5 hours to Belfast, - .25 hours to Munich)

I second what Giok said about Gizmo/GTS - her voice when singing is lovely. But to have her combined with Liz giggling and squeaking is horrible if the distance is less than a couple of miles ;-)

Thanks to Maureen (spelling?) f/k/a EmmaB for my (second, the first I had to hand over to Liz ...) raffle price - I might need some help with translation/understanding some of the recipes, my kitchen English is more like pidgeon English.

Oakley, the Granary Steps are lovely! And thanks for the Sunday 11am tea!

Many thanks to the management of Hotel Draper for the late pickup service and the bed (though there was almost no time to use it) - without that hotel it would be much more complicated for me to get to Portaferry.
Thanks to Paul for organizing/driving the car from Belfast to Portaferry.

Of course, many thanks to all the musicians for a big load of good songs and tune!

Thanks, Skarpi, for recognizing the tune I tried to play on the whistle - the fact that you recognized it tells me I was not too far off ...

Bente, thanks for the offer of meeting at Arhus (don't know how to put the ° on top of the A) - I found it on the map. I am quite sure that I will pass through that town, but not the date.

Thanks, Kate, for starting the Loughstock tradition!

Thanks, Exploris, for having your 20th anniversary to coincide with Loughstock and for reducing the entrance fee to 20p for that day. Many nice fishes there (but no chips to go with them ...)

I'll try to work through my pictures tomorrow after work.

Thanks to Liz/Maureen for organizing the Sunday dinner, it was lovely! Thanks to all the kitchen helpers (before AND after dinner).

Thanks to Skarpi for bringing Brennivin and fish and bread.

Thanks to Barholm and its staff for running the hostel and providing great Ulster fries (and light bulbs!). (might be nice to have pillows in the bedrooms, though)

Thanks to Giok for organizing the Saturday evening.
Thanks to the local kids for not disturbing us earlier ;-)

Thanks to Sparkle for sparkling * ;-) * ;-) * ;-)

Thanks to Max for Mudcat - without it I'd never know any of you! (Ok, I don't know whether you are thankful to Max for knowing me ...)

Thanks to all participants for a great weekend!

And last but not least:
Looking forward to Loughstock Sixpack next year!

(no guarantee for this list to be complete)

Now now, MudGuard.. you didn't HAVE to hand over the raffle prize to me... but the gesture was kind and gratefully received.

You'll never guess - I haven't even opened them yet!

Skarpi - the fish did not get wasted or thrown away. I have it here with me and occasionally take a nibble, although the majority of it is helping to feed 2 very annoyed cats! The bread I finished yesterday and it was as good as it had been on Sunday.

I didn't get that many pictures because my camera eats batteries like I'd eat chocolate.

Nice pix Liz. Do you put ordinary batteries in your camera? If you do, that's why it eats them, buy rechargable NI-MH batts, it's cheaper in the long run.
I've suddenly realised how I might have caught my lurgi, after thinking about Fib's post about her absence from the festivities.
It's Lily's fault!!
Still it's a small price to pay for a wee hug from such a lovely lady.{And she does like men called John!}
I would post my photo's but my camera stayed in it's case all weekend.

Well I am back home after a very music packed week! Portaferry was grand. Too bad about the "invaders" who came into Fiddler's on Saturday night, but the conservatory at Barholm was so nice that I think we should just hold the Saturday night concert/sessions there next year.   And the quiet Sunday singing session at Dumigans was just the way to cap off the weekend. It was so nice to meet Gizmo after chatting so much, and also to meet Liz and Manitas, Skipjack, Oaklet, and Gunna (aka Mrs. Skarpi!)as well as new Mudcatter Gulliver (really enjoyed his singing). I was happy to have a chance to see two old friends, Chris Caldwell and Stevie Mulholland who came by on Friday and played some tunes. There are too many highlights to list -I enjoyed it ALL - including the aquarium (a bargain at 20p!) and the drive Leadfingers and I took with the Skarpis where we saw St. Patrick's grave and hiked a little bit around the Mountains of Mourne. Of course my holiday didn't end there - I had some time in London where Terry escorted me around to the folk "hot spots" - Maidenhead, Herga and Sharps! I did get manage to take in a bit of non-music culture - spent an afternoon with Terry and LTS at the Victoria and Albert Museum. I only wish I could have stayed longer - it was all over much too soon!

Not long got back from my trip to Norfolk (went on the 13th Feb, - hardly had time to blow my nose, before packing to go off again).

The piccies and comments had me rolling on the floor squeaking and giggling. Heheheheheheheh.

As I said before - absolutely brilliant, if I don't plan for next year I'll be able to go. If I plan now, something will go wrong. Can't wait to meet everyone next year (I'm not planning!)

Doesn't sparkles look soooooo much better in the pics, especially after her 'puberty'.

She was a little tart this past week too. A couple of nights I had mini sessions (consisting of 3 people) at my friends home. She was used by a couple of gorgeous young lads. I'm telling you now, that sparkles is a little play around.

Those captions are very good for those who put up pics. I'm loving them all. My name is spelt Nicci or Nicolette though for future references.

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome. I had a wonderful albeit tiring time. Apparently I don't get drunk or hungover when drinking in Ireland.......mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
