Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: My guru always said Date: 18 Feb 07 - 07:06 AM Checklist: eyes, brain - in gear? Obsessed Giok? Hmmm!! Andy & Bente: photos are Fab, Thanks!!! (Thanks for the Captions Bente!) Definitely looks like there may have been more music than singing this time, that Sparkles has definitely been well-handled - gone from a Virgin to a Fully-fledged Teenager in the time it takes to get on a Ferry :-) Bit of a worry about the striking similarites if LtS & GtS - is the UK Festival scene ready for this I ask myself.... Bente: Ok, so what's a Banbury Curse??? |
Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: bfdk Date: 18 Feb 07 - 07:16 AM Hils, that refers to the mother and father of a cold that both Mab (EmmaB) and I brought home from Banbury with us - it lasted the best part of 3 weeks!! Best wishes, Bente |
Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 Feb 07 - 01:53 PM Andy, if you're the Bavarian, I'm willing to risk it! LTS |
Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: MudGuard Date: 18 Feb 07 - 02:10 PM Btw, if you call me a bad Bavarian, that proves that I am the only Bavarian you ever met ;-) |
Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 18 Feb 07 - 02:15 PM Sadly, this is probably true. No-one else admits to being Bavarian... although I do have another German friend... she might be a secret Bavarian! Would hugging Icelanders be a cure? LTS |

Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: Gizmo Date: 18 Feb 07 - 07:07 PM The UK folk scene ain't big enough for 2 squeakers or sparkles for that matter, but who cares were here, were here....... I'm still laughing, I have no cold/flu, but I'm starting to get a tickle in the back of my throat which won't clear. I blame nothing but fresh London air. Sparkles did in fact get to teenager spots and stars during an afternoon at fiddlers while ogling the rugby players on screen. Liz is a very bad influence. But so is Andy. And Gulliver and Gerry- I won't even mention Skipjack and Oaks! GTS |
Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 19 Feb 07 - 01:20 AM Ah... I'm a bad influence... my work here is done... :D LTS |

Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: John MacKenzie Date: 20 Feb 07 - 10:44 AM As a precursor of next year the first Saturday in February is, the 1st of February. So we have either that one or the 8th to choose from. I have been reminded that Lent starts on the 6th next year, this may affect some people's choice. Giok Loughstock German Six |

Subject: RE: Loughstock, Norn Iron gathering 2007 From: Maryrrf Date: 20 Feb 07 - 10:49 AM Gerry, that's the beauty of these Mudcat gatherings, isn't it! After the first few songs all these folks who were strangers are suddenly friends! Let's decide on a date for next year so I can put it on my calendar and have something to look forward to! Either weekend is fine with me - I'm not a big observer of Lent! |

Subject: Ali Scott (for manitas at work) From: GUEST,Chris Smith Date: 26 Feb 07 - 06:08 PM Sorry to use this list for personal matters, but I found this old post, and wondered if you are still in contact with Ali Scott. He was a friend of my brother-in-law John McGowan, who has sadly died, and the funeral is this coming Friday, 2nd March. We'd like him to know, and if possible come to the funeral. If you have an address, phone number, or whatever, could you let me know at chris@skerries.demon.co.uk, please? Thanks. Chris >Did you ever get down to the musters at the Cittie of York in Holborn? I used to go down with my mate Tom Gilmour. A few Civil War types used to drink in his local, the Dock & Duck at Palmers Green which is renowned as being the centre of the universe, and got us involved. Let's see, there was Martin Brain, Keith and Alison, Nell and her hubby and Ali Scott. |
