Next to the stove in the kitchen with a saucer of warm milk nearby, I was born to an American short hair tabby. It was a small litter (1) and she lavished her attention on me. Her sire, a part abbysinian, taught me how to fling litter at an early age and Mom passed on her great talents and kitty vocabulary. About the time they were ready to have me out from underfoot, both died of common cat diseases...but they were great while they were here.

That would have been June 8, 1949 in Tuscarawas County, Ohio...a great time to be born.

My first glimpse of life came February 1, 1949 at the 97th Military Field Hospital, Frankfurt-an-Mein, Germany. Dad (a GI) was sent to Korea and never returned. Mom went to live with G'mom in Dresden (then East Germany) and we came to Florida (so Mom could help care for an aging Aunt) in 1955. I was 6 years old at the time.

I'm a bit older than dirt; actually, I invented it. Used to be all farming was done hydroponically, but when all the tanks were bought up by jazz players needing someplace to grow their maryjane, it became clear that a new technology was necessary, so I invented dirt. Requires much less effort to grow stuff: makes used of rainfall. They gave me the Nobel prize for my development. --seed

Thanks bbc, I loved 46 too although for some reason 26 was tramatic, guess then I had to become an adult now I've got to become middleaged, didn't feeel that way in my 40s. Sure does beat the alternative thogh. Don't get me wrong I enjoy my life fully just hate to acknowledge how long I've been around!

7th March 1948 I was born at home in Manchester, Britain. I'm three months older than the National Health Service, and Dad kept going on about how he had to pay the midwife. If you ask me, it was him got the timing wrong. Incedentally, AndyG, my dad worked in the admin office at the Manchester Royal Infirmary and St Mary's Hospitals for ten years after the war. Hwyl. At 8.30am on 6 Feb 1976 in a small town in Australia a young, frightened, raven-haired hippy chick gave birth to her first screaming baby who apparently looked like a gorgeous petite Chinese (with black hair weighing only 6.5lbs) but eventually became a tall blonde angelic sort (so mother thinks) who is still prone to screaming fits, even at the age of 23.

Oh, by the way, am I the youngest Mudcatter? Does life get any easier?

Fair Youngmaid: Yes and no. It changes a lot! In some ways easier cuz the older I get the less I worry about stuff and the better I feel about who I am, hang-ups and all.

Born in Seattle, Jan. 9, 1950. During the biggest blizard of the year. (So they tell me, I was very young at the time and just don't remember much of it. )

Never thought I'd make it to 21. If I'd of known that I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself.

Two birthdays? How do you do that? I waz born only once, everything after that is an anaversery (sp?) of that date.

my party trick always seems to be telling people how old i am and then letting them get on with that disscussion they always have about the songs i wont know, the famous people i wont recognise, the things that will mean nothing to me because im just too young to remember.... yes here i am again taking my place as the youngest at the party....

that makes me 17 if your maths is failing you. i can hardly belive it myself sometimes. according to my friends im more 17-going-on-70 but never mind.

anyone want to challenge that then? or any other new year babies? apparently its very lucky for a family to have a baby born on the 1st, but im not sure if my mother would agree seeing as i was born in the middle of a snow storm in (so ive been told) one of the black holes of this otherwise lovely isle called Ormskirk. it means 'the place of the worm' and makes me a Lancashire Lass. or so ive been told.
