Subject: weird strat trem spring reverb ??? From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker Date: 15 Jun 07 - 12:03 AM recently aquired a good quality "Strat" copy fitted with a "Wilkinson" tremelo.. just screwed the 'trem' bridge down flat and screwed the 'Trem claw' as tight as possible.. .like i normally do with 'Strats' to disable the tremelo.. so far this one sounds great and resonates really well with everything screwed down tight.. except.. if i play a B flat note anywhere on the higher half of the fretboard i get a really pronounced spring reverb effect.. but only on B flat notes.. ????? weird !!!!???? |

Subject: RE: weird strat trem spring reverb ??? From: Mooh Date: 15 Jun 07 - 05:34 AM Is the saddle secure? Same with the locking nut if there is one. Is the string good? Might also want to mute the springs on the vibrato. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: weird strat trem spring reverb ??? From: Mooh Date: 15 Jun 07 - 05:36 AM The string might also be bumping off the pickup, or a pickup screw or something else might be vibrating in sympathy with the pitch of Bb. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: weird strat trem spring reverb ??? From: GUEST,highlandman Date: 15 Jun 07 - 08:10 AM Get a friend to play the offending notes while you stand in front of him and methodically place a finger on each and every thing you can think of (on the guitar I mean) until you touch the spot that kills the resonance. I've done this on everything from guitars to motorcycles and it works if you're patient. Of course then the job is only half done, you still have to fix it... -Glenn |
