This person may have found a lucrative and unique occupation. Just watch a movie and make up a prop.

I've wondered before if things on eBay were legit. Any of you had the same suspicions?

I have some seawater which was actually used in the filming of "Titanic". Only $195 for a 4-ounce vial.

A certain Artist once canned tins of his excrement. As he is now dead, they are now worth more per weight than gold...

I'm not making this up, you know!

I recall that someone was selling his own soul on Ebay. The seller's soul was purportedly contained inside a well-sealed transparent glass bottle. The bottle also contained a signed and notarized certificate, certifying whose soul it was and that it was in the bottle.

Hmm.

I'm not sure what the bidding went to on that one. But, hey, if people want to buy something, then they have every right to, don't they?

What kind of idiot would bid on that? Everybody knows you can't keep a soul inside a glass bottle!

You have to use a hollowed-out coconut.

Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know.

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns - the ones we don't know we don't know

I believe what I said yesterday. I don't know what I said, but I know what I think... and I assume it's what I said

Yes, but how about the things we don't know that we know? The unknown knowns? If someone knows something, but cannot for various reasons bring it to mind, then it's an unknown known, is it not?

Below is the text of the eBay item mentioned at the start of the thread. They purge the auctions after awhile.:

Up for auction here is a super rare production prop from James Cameron's masterpiece, Aliens (1986)!!!    Recall the scene where the Colonial Marines were being briefed about the Alien, and the fate of the Nostromo, the night before thier mission to the Hadleys Hope colony. In this scene, Lt. Gorman says, "Anyhow, we have Ripley's report on disk; I suggest you study it." Upon reading the script, the FX crew made these disks to be handed out to each marine. However, they were ultimately not used, making this an awesome, production-made piece. Most were trashed after the filming, but a very few survived. This very rare prop relates to that memorable scene, and came directly from the FX department!!   It's a 3.5" floppy disk, painted in the elusive Brown Bess color of all the Colonial Marines equipment. The label added is the text that would have been seen in a closeup shot of the disk. It looks to have been done on a typewriter, and the vintage font dates this 22 year old piece!!
-----
Bidding starts at $275 for this 3.5" floppy disc. A black floppy disc with a printed label on it.

Don't take me too seriously, Foolestroupe. I just meant that if people don't pick up on your jokes straight away, it's probably not worth trying to bash them in with a hammer.

Can we get hold of the adresses of the people bidding for these discs? They could be a useful source of income. Even if they are real, $275!!!

"Can we get hold of the addresses of the people bidding for these discs?"

Easy peasey, mate -

Step 1 - make up some of your own disks

Step 2 ...... well if you really want to make money, I'm sure you can work out the rest for yourself! :-p

"if people don't pick up on your jokes straight away, it's probably not worth trying to bash them in with a hammer."

Ah, now that's the difference between a comedian and a Fool....

A British man fed up with his wife's complaints advertised her for sale

"Nagging Wife. No Tax, No MOT. Very high maintenance -- some rust," says Gary Bates.

Bates, a self-employed builder from Gloucestershire, southwest England, snapped after his wife Donna on got on his nerves while she was watching television and decided to place the ad as a joke.

"She was nagging me for doing something small, while she was watching some rubbish on TV. So I just thought I'd put an ad in to get rid of her.

"I didn't think anyone would ring up but I've had at least nine or 10 people calling about her. It's gone mad. There was no one I knew -- just people asking, 'Is she still available?'"

The couple only married last year, and Bates said his 40-year-old wife -- whom he advertised in the magazine's Free to Collect section, along with some of his fishing tackle -- initially gave him "a bit of an ear-bashing."

I hear they got some pretty neat air guitars on ebay. And piscean pennyfarthings.

I have some holey bottles for storing water or souls in. The coconut shells are ok for souls until some nutter decides to play Python's Holy Grail. Really annoying when that happens.

Ebbie - those post holes? Do they work like the ACME holes in the Roadrunner cartoon? If so, put me down for 2. The second one is in case I fall into the first one, I will be able to get back. Hopefully.

VirginaTam, these postholes work just about any way that you want to make use of them. Pleae take the lot- they're in my way here.

Of course, I could stack them behind my house but it's unsightly enough back there already. You probably have more room than I so if you can't currently use them all, you could hold some out indefinitely; the good thing is that they are not perishable.
