I've found it difficult to take Ms. Coulter seriously. Sometimes if not most times I find her barely comprehensible. On a good day she rises to the level of superficiality (Sort of like Bill O'Reilly only with smaller breasts). I think confrontation is for her a technique to boost notoriety, hence sales. I think that is the case here. She made a fumbling attempt to justify doctrine that I'm not sure herself understands, and it's nothing very new and at this point nothing to be concerned about.

That's your opinion, John, and I think you are entitled to it. But none of what you posted makes her any less ugly. This has nothing to do with leftish leanings--which I do have. It has everything to do with a mean-mouthed bitch who goes out of her way to be offensive. I find it hard to believe you actually defend that piece of shit. Or perhaps I have misunderstood.

Ahhh, I've learned the rules...'tsonly taken 68 years, but I'm a slow learner.
If you are a person of the left, you can satirize and demean those on the right, especially the religious right, with ad hominim attacks and that makes one witty and deep.
If one is a person of the right, especially who holds deeply held religious or moral convictions, and satirizes the ideas of those on the left, that makes one mean and ugly.
Got it.
BTW, I have never heard Ms Coulter take he looks seriously. Also, if what comes out of ones mouth affects their looks, the Sara Silverman, Kathy Griffith and Bill Maher are among the ugliest persons I'm aware of.

John...as much grist for satire as she gives us with her verbal idiocy, I can't help but feel that she opens herself up to criticism on the physical plane as well. She often makes comments about how hot and sexy she thinks she is. *suppressing gag reflex*. I think it's only fair to add that to the list of her delusions, subjective opinion though it may be.

Oh my God...I just had a brilliant idea. I had the great good fortune to see Roy Zimmerman in concert on Wednesday night, and did him a solid by posting a poster for him at Dusty Strings. I'm going to send him a heartfelt request for an Ann Coulter song...nobody takes the self-aggrandized down a peg like Roy. :D

John - In and of herself someone like Ann Coulter is harmless. But people like her need to be watched and paid attention to so that we can see if her ideas are spreading. It gets dangerious when people like her get a following. Because that's how you end up with concentration camps and ovens.

I am Jewish. I am a synagogue going Jew. I do not believe that Jesus was or is a messiah. I am not offended by what Anne Coulter said about Jews to Danny Deutsch is her. I am not afraid of Anne Coulter's beliefs. I would be if she were blowing up places where Jews congregate. I would be if she were putting Jews in concentration camps. I would be if she were taxing Jews for being Jewish. But she does none of those things, or, for that matter, anything else onerous to Jews. So get over it girls and boys.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Conservative commentator and best-selling author Ann Coulter may find herself in the midst of a controversy for comments Monday suggesting America would be better if everyone was Christian.

Asked by CNBC host Donny Deutsch what the U.S. looks like in her dreams, Coulter said it would look like the Republican National Convention in 2004

"People were happy," she said, according to a transcript provided to CNN by CNBC. "They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America."

When Deutsch responded, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" Coulter said "Yeah."

Deutsch, himself Jewish, continued to press Coulter on her remarks, asking, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians then?"

"Yeah," Coulter responded, adding "Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track."

"You can't possibly believe that," Deutsch responded. "You can't possibly. You're too educated."

"Do you know what Christianity is?" Coulter replied. "See, we believe your religion, but you have to obey. We have the fast track program."

Later in the interview Deutsch asked Coulter if she doesn't want any Jews in the world, Coulter responded, "No, we think — we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say."

"Wow, you didn't really say that, did you," Deutsch said.

Well here's something else to chew on. A more accurate number for Canadians who served in the US military in Vietnam is found on this page

According to the website, approximately 5,000 Canadians joined in the fighting in Vietnam, based primarily upon mortality rate. Exact figures were not kept by either the Canadian government or the American military.

Other significances aside, those Americans who came north to Canada and those Canadians who ventured south to volunteer for the US military, in numbers, were a very small portion of either countries over all population.

The right wingers I know all make the case against John Edwards. They even think Hillary would be better. They all listen to Rush Limbaugh, so I guess that's where I thought it was coming from. I can't stand to listen myself, so I can't be sure.
               On the other hand, it could be Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck, or any number of others. Usually, though, when one or the other of them gets onto something, the rest of them go into their "sheep mode" and follow. The only challange to trying to find out where it originated, if you consider that to be worth the effort.

I don't know if Coulter is transgendered or what, but there a great video of "Ann Coulter" debating "John Edwards" (actually, two comedians) at American University a few months ago. Don'tt know the exact url, but search for "Edwards Coulter debate" and you'll find it. Or go to capitolcabaret.com, the site of one of the two comedians for his Coulter impersonations.
