Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Ebbie Date: 27 Jun 07 - 03:36 PM Elizabeth Edwards didn't understand the context of Coulter's words? Why would you think that? Edwards doesn't strike me as stupid or ill-informed. Coulter made her remark on Monday. On Tuesday Elizabeth Edwards made her plea for civility. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Amos Date: 27 Jun 07 - 03:32 PM I think it is a national shame that Coulter is anything but a little-known lunatic fringe writer. She shows all the intelligence and insight of The National Enquirer, but without the humor. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: John Hardly Date: 27 Jun 07 - 03:05 PM "What apologists for Coulter don't mention is that Elizabeth Edwards has nothing to do with whatever Bill Maher said. So, in what way was the remark about John Edwards called for?" Because Ms Edwards commented before she understood the context of Coulter's words? puh-leez. This thread of outrage is started by a guy (Frankham) who in no uncertain terms stated that there should be no tolerance for people of faith. Feel the love. If you ask me, BWL pretty well said it all. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Ebbie Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:57 PM "If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot," Coulter said Monday, riffing on remarks made by HBO's Bill Maher. "He suggested in March (MARCH!) that "people wouldn't be dying needlessly" if Vice President Dick Cheney had been killed in an insurgent attack in Afghanistan" What apologists for Coulter don't mention is that Elizabeth Edwards has nothing to do with whatever Bill Maher said. So, in what way was the remark about John Edwards called for? I believe firmly that the people here on the Mudcat and elsewhere who hold furtive admiration for Coulter are people who are too timid to express the same opinions she expresses. But agree with those opinions. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:37 PM I don't get why it matters to anyone what people like Coulter and Limbaugh say. They're just preaching to their own choirs. Nothing either of them has ever said has made anyone change his or her opinion about anything. The people who listen to or read them already share their opinions. Those people are just looking for validation via the "If it's in the media, it must be true." route. The smartest thing Elizabeth Edwards could have said is "Who is this person and why should I care about the bile she feels compelled to spew?" There's not a potential Edwards supporter in the entire US to whom Ann Coulter's opinion is worth warm spit. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Becca72 Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:37 PM She also made some rather mean remarks about the Edwards' deceased son. I don't know the full context of the comments but you know coming from her it was nasty. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: John Hardly Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:31 PM "RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Elizabeth Edwards pleaded Tuesday with Ann Coulter to "stop the personal attacks," a day after the conservative commentator said she wished Edwards' husband, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, had been killed by terrorists." In its full context, what Coulter said was that, though it raised outrage that she called Edwards a "faggot", it did not raise outrage among the very same people when Bill Maher said that he wished that VP Cheney had been killed in the failed terrorist assassination plot. (I just heard the full sound clips of both Maher's and Coulter's comments) She was saying that apparently it is okay to wish that a political figure was killed by terrorists, but not okay to call them "faggots". |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Bill D Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:19 PM LOL...fascinating timing, saul...your post was maybe 5 seconds ahead of mine. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Bill D Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:18 PM I have an idea! Lets lock Ann Coulter in a room with Paris Hilton, make a video of their...ummmm....'interaction', and sell it to Fox News. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: saulgoldie Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:18 PM If everyone ignored her, she would shrivel up and blow away as dust. With any luck, so would Paris Hilton. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Ebbie Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:15 PM Darn. I have a good friend named Ann. But if I must ignore her, I must. :) The problem with ignoring Coulter is that among a certain crowd her books sell like hotcakes |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: JeremyC Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:13 PM Ann Coulter is a professional troll. Her opinions don't seem to be worth serious attention, and any attention only makes her stronger. Hm. Ann Althouse is the same way (except for her posts about the Supreme Court, which are actually interesting). In conclusion, ignore anyone named Ann. |
Subject: RE: BS: Ann Coulter back in the news From: Ebbie Date: 27 Jun 07 - 02:08 PM Oh, but, Riginslinger, don't you realize that Coulter is just joking? She says so herself. |
