From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Jul 07 - 12:08 PM BTW......Here's why we don't have the deck shot anymore: Regarding the AWOL deck cam, as you may recall the camera and it's hosting are owned by South Dakota Public Broadcasting. I have contacted them a couple of times and have been told that they are restructuring their server system and that is why the images aren't getting out. Each time they have assured me that they will let me know when it comes back up. I want to let everyone know that we (Crazy Horse) have not abandoned the deck cam. We will most likely be installing our own before the tourist season picks back up. (Hopefully sooner) They also have a club to join................. Spaw |

(wiping sweat off brow...) I really miss it. I think you should write the guy, Spaw. Suggest that they work up a re-enactment of the Custer fight performed by a couple of hundred live actors at the base of the monument around noon every day. Advise him that this would be a great promotion of the project and it would bring in millions of dollars. |

While at Ft. Robinson you can visit the place where Crazy Horse was stabbed by a guard's bayonet -- or maybe Little Big Man, or maybe someone else. Who knows? Maybe you'll meet his ghost at the reconstructed guardhouse. It really is a nice place to visit and stay. It was originally the site of the Red Cloud Agency and has quite a history. |

I'm guessing I was somewhere between ages 8 and 10. It had a powerful impact on me. I think reading his story is what set me on the path that turned into social work and interest in social justice. I must say, reading the book was a tad more stimulating that watching the webcam. |

Crazy Horse Memorial has received many generous gifts of construction equipment and materials over the years. Such equipment has served the Memorial well, but we face a constant challenge of replacing aging equipment. The mountain crew is still using donated equipment that is 30 or more years old. The only funding this has is from visitor contributions and a few pieces of equipment from companies or one-time fundraisers. I actually found the other pages at the website of much more interest, though it would be kind of interesting to watch the webcam when they are blasting. kat |
