Thank you Gene, Aeola and y'all for your good wishes to Linda. I'll relay them soonest.
I just spoke to her 'old man' who says she's a bit more comfortable, still unsure of exactly what is wrong and that she's had even more tests.

Hope to get a more concise report for you - before the weekend.

I think you mean 'Hazel + 1 other' Ali,
Minimal update - Linda refused visitors this afternoon, not feeling too bright and undergoing loads of tests. I hope for an update this evening.

Probably more qualified than most of them taking part Dozy Rosy - well, the Lancashire side anyway.
I've spoken to Hazel, and Linda definitely can't be there - other artists are filling their slots (whew!!) but Linda + 1 other will will singing in the WOR. And I've got the card for everyone to sign for her.

Just to draw attention to my posting of July 10th showing categories for the WOR

There should be Arthur Marsden, Copper Kettle, Hissyfit, Ray Padgett, David Swann for Yorkshire

and of course Ron Yates from Saddleworth as usual

venue the Civic at 2pm

hope I haven't missed anyone and that Linda is fit

Watch for my anglo concertina which makes as much noise as as Scots man's bag pipes, deafen Scowie!!

Hazel, you're not really praying for rain are you? I have enough problems in that quarter, and I'm staying very positive this year. But thanks for saying it's your favourite festival!!!

If you're driving a caravan or motor home we usualy suggest that you camp first, then get to the Festival office for you camping passes as there's so little room on our streets! They weren't built for festivals!!

Some sad news now unfortunately re Hissyfit - Hazel will be there but not Linda!!! See the message received yesterday from Linda:

Ali, I'm off to visit Linda in Hull Royal Infirmary!
I don't know much BUT 'the Kelly' will NOT make the festival this weekend. Kidney and 'related pains and problems. Ouch.
I'll be there, to fight the war with David Swann - and possibly another secret weapon Ann Berriman, (who knows nothing of Lindas condition yet) but I need to let you know the situation....
Bother.
Much love - sorry to break the bad news...get in touch soon please.
Hazel. Xx

I've sent her a big hug from me and lots of love - and I know she'll get the same from all Mudcatters. Need to get her a big card which we can all sign over the weekend.

Ali x

I really must learn to wake up before I post .... yes Mick

Prayers for NO RAIN

Although for me it's a double edged sword - at least when it's raining, the mossies stay at home.

Saddleworth mossies take no prisoners. They are tough little critters.

Linda, it's 1 min away, not 1 mile away - between the campsite and the village - so you're all very welcome! Tho' there are 6 staying here, so I think we're having a rota for the loo already!

I've taken loads of calls tonight asking questions about the festival, even another dance team who want to come!! But it'll all be worth it when I see you lot there!

Scowie and Geoff have have now formulated the categories of songs which they would like us to work to and Scowie has posted them to me by snail mail

No doubt we can reserve the right to challenge or agree to their demands!!

let battle commence then and no offside rules! Look at poor Harold he got shot in the eye, too late then![Battle of Hastings]

We cant wait-we are supporting Mawkin Causley in February so really looking forward to hearing them- We will miss all those dear departed but we talk of Colin often and I am sure he and others will not be far away-Hazel and I will be accepting hugs on his behalf!!

Dozy Rosy - yes, the campsite opens around lunchtime on the Thursday. By Thursday evening we usually have quite a few people on it - Peter and Anne, and Eileen and Maurice, will all be there to help anyone who doesn't know the ropes / area. We meet up in the Waggon Inn for a welcome singaround and beverage (mine's a Jamieson's please!!), run by Geoff Miller. The site doesn't close till lunchtime on the Monday - we have had people staying longer actually, on the car park, if necessary. You're welcome to use my bathroom - my flat's only 1 min away.

Trust Scowie to be asking questions - tell him nothing!!! Think Geoff's handed out the instructions to artists for the topics for the Wars of the Roses songs now?

We'll miss John Glynn certainly - and Colin of course - won't be the same without them.

The Young Performers Concert is going to be excellent this year - MC Ken Hall, with Roots Alive, 4Square, Elbow Jane and Kerfuffle - that's on Saturday afternoon as well.

And Mawkin Causley have sent me their debut CD - not really out yet actually - it's brill! I've been dancing in my flat to it. Can't wait to see them on the Friday - same concert as Hissyfit, so it's be a brill evening!

Off to Chorley FM now to appear on their folk programme, promoting the festival. Then a couple of glasses of something are in order I feel!

Looking fwd to c'ing y'all agin. Bit sad this year as my mate John Glynn (who stewarded last couple of years) sadly died on last new years eve so will be toasting his health (and Jim Riley's, another past regular, also now sadly gone)
