Subject: RE: LYR REQ: Bye bye my Rosie-Anna From: Joe Offer Date: 02 May 99 - 08:47 PM Click here, Emily. It's a hard one to find because of the variations in spelling of the name. -Joe Offer- Which is why my reply took six minutes.... |
Subject: RE: LYR REQ: Bye bye my Rosie-Anna From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 02 May 99 - 10:19 PM Joe! You are even self-competitive. 6 minutes is nothing! Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: LYR REQ: Bye bye my Rosie-Anna From: Rick Fielding Date: 02 May 99 - 10:54 PM Be Careful Joe. Remember the old R&B Tune:"60 minute Man"? You could become known as the "6 Minute Man"! |
Subject: Lyr Add: BYE BYE MY ROSEANNA From: Brian Peters Date: 03 May 99 - 06:18 AM I just clicked on Joe's link and realised that all of the message I've written is pretty well redundant - you all knew it already. Anyway, for those of you that have missed it, allow me to direct you to the incredible rendition by the Bright Light Quartet on Southern Journey Vol. 1 from the Alan Lomax Collection (Rounder CD 1701). The harmony is sublime. Come to that the whole CD is incredible, as are all the other volumes I've heard so far. Here are the verses Bright Light sing - with quite a bit of repetition of verses.
Sweet Roseanne, sweet Roseanne,
Sweet Roseanne, my darling child,
Bye-bye, bye-bye, bye-bye, bye-bye,
The steamboat coming round the bend,
Don't you want to go home on your next payday?
I'm going away but not to stay. |
