Mwahahaha! I can take the bus! And will have to, as I have several errands to run. I'll wait on the Cape Caper, though.

There's quite a lot of snow out there right now so we may have to put the expedition off for a couple of days. It's 7.51 and the snow plough hasn't yet got to our road, unless the snow has obliterated previous efforts.

Maybe we can arrange to meet Mary at lunchtime on Wednesday, if the white stuff isn't still falling.

There's nothing for it but to hitch Seamus to a bobsled. "Mush!"

On the other paw, you might have to reschedule.

Take care ladies.

The weather is not looking too hospitable for the morning commute. I may have to beg off but you hardier types can proceed without me. Just make sure you have a camera.

Has anyone figured out which beastie ate all the gummy fruits at Deborah's? There was at least half a pound. A sad loss.

Hope it wasn't Autumn. Seamus' and Asha's tummies are leadlined but a corn snake stuffed with gummy candy - not a pretty sight.

Sigh. Who volunteered me for this duty again? This is retaliation for the Nun Bowling game, isn't it?

Cats, it's a very nice shade of Cranberry, not too red, not too dark. I have drooled over the color in the shop window several times. Not that I want a cape, but I do fancy that color.

It can't be any worse than the one time that SINSULL set foot in Walmart and walked round pretending to sprinkle holy water and chanting a Latin blessing.

If we had got stopped I was going to say that she was due to go on day release soon and this was her first trip into the outside world in 15 years......

We need an embedded webcam in that shop. This will be history in the making. Becca- I mean Zorro of course- your assignment, should you choose to accept it...

You are right, Alice. Cats has done that but is still a bit concerned about how it will fit. I believe she has had numerous discussions with them.
I rarely order clothing over the internet because it rarely fits properly no matter what the size charts say.

Cats, I suggest contacting the company and
giving them your height and measurements
before ordering. It is best to know what
size to order from their recommendation
especially on such a pricey garment.

Monday is set for "Shopping Day". Tami, Jacqui and several dogs have been lined up. I have had offers of other volunteers.
So Jacqui and I will try on burgundy cloaks in 2X to see how they fit and fall. Then I will choose a hunter green, Jacqui a red and Tami a blue and we will be photographed with swords in hand as the Three Musketeers.
Then Jacqui with a basket as Little Red Riding Hood and Tami in funny shoes as The Blue Boy. I will remain in green and be a tree on whom hopefully no dog will lift its leg.

At least that is the plan for now.

Maybe Mudcat Entrepreneurs International should explore offering this shopping service to others? It sounds as if it would be really useful. I volunteer for sampling seafood and other gourmet delights from Maine.

Sinsull is also goingtotry and get down and see how they look. She also has a friend coming over in January so between us all i should get to know which one I want and in what size and colour. Cranberry or hunting green at the moment depending on how red the cranberry is. Thanks everyone.
Now if I can go shopping for anyone over here....

I've just found this thread on my return from the UK last night.

We can go look at the capes and I am 5'2" and size XL so can try them on and get a rough idea of which ones might suit. If the proprietors don't mind we might even be able to take photos to send so you can see for yourself.

I won't be coming to the UK for a while now, but we do have a line on a suitable courier in the next week or so if we can get it all sewn up by then.

Sinsull-

It's a very small shop. I'm not sure there is room for Seamus, in addition to the three of you and maybe another regular customer or two. Be gentle!

They used to have a big sheep with a knitted sweater out in front of their old shop in the Old Port. No, it wasn't a live sheep but someone ripped it off anyway.

I hope the management gets out with their lives still intack with those 3 paying them a visit al at once. They'll clean the racks off in a few seconds flat & leave the floor covered with the gore of the sales crew. You'll probably be paying a healthy discout for 5 capes too instead of the 1 you ordered.

I wouldn't send those 3 women to look at asses for fear they'd bring home a russled herd of mustangs that belonged to my neighbor all newly branded.

Barry

Sinsull-

Between the three of you, you should be able to determine what is the appropriate "2X" by 5-foot size. It will also be a wonderful vicarious experience because the capes are really lovely, but expensive as mentioned.

However, a live sheep is not an adequate substitute. You lurkers, needn't bother suggesting that.

The shop management tends to be friendly.

Charley Noble

We can also check out the outlet store to see if your cape is available on the bargain rack.

The company does have a good reputation. Do you want me to telephone them for you Cat? I don't have the gas/petrol to drive over just now, but I could call them on Saturday if you like.

Otherwise, perhaps some of our amazing Maine Shopping Experts here on Mudcat would enjoy a trip over to check on things for you.

Ok, Cats...I have looked at the website and I can tell you that this shop is located in a very well-to-do section of Portland and it does look like quality merchandise. I also noticed that they give a flat rate for international shipping of $40, which, considering most of the capes are $300+ really isn't that bad...but has been mentioned, Jacqui travels from Maine to the UK twice a year...
I would say the size really depends on how long you want this cape to be on you. If it's just a straight cape I would say judging from your height that you should be OK with a "long" as the extra length will be taken up by the 2x requirements...but it may be worth going someplace over there and trying one or two on before ordering...
