Subject: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 02 May 08 - 06:18 PM Bearded Bruce wants me to support this assertion, I am happy to but I don't want to hog all the fun for myself. I will just point out the two most obvious points of convergence and let others pitch in if they wish. 1. He is running on the platform of continuing Bush's position on Iraq. He goes so far at to take credit for the current tactic called the "surge" which is causing so much distress for so many of our military families. As a continuation of the President's military stance McCain is OPPOSING the updating of the GI Bill. 2. He running on is continuing Bush's Tax Cuts. Tax cuts he opposed when the "straight talk express" talked much straighter. |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: Riginslinger Date: 02 May 08 - 06:53 PM Obama is the one who wants to leave the Office of Faith Based Initiatives open. It looks to me like he would be Bush's third term. |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: Little Hawk Date: 02 May 08 - 07:41 PM The "Office of "Faith Based Iniatives"???????????????????? LOLOL!!!! Only in the USA. In-frikkin'-credible. Obama's probably afraid of losing some votes if he said he'd close it, Riginslinger. ;-) No US politician would dare to close an office of faith-based initiatives. It would be like not saluting the flag. |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: Ebbie Date: 02 May 08 - 07:49 PM McCain has clarified his statement. He was referring to the last war. ;~/ |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: Little Hawk Date: 02 May 08 - 07:50 PM It would be like publicly kicking your aged mother and using Old Glory to blow your nose in! ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 02 May 08 - 07:51 PM He said we would never have to go to war in the middle east again. Saying he was talking about the 1992 war makes it less clear doesn't it? |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: Bobert Date: 02 May 08 - 08:43 PM Ummmmmm, Eb, but what was the last war??? I'm confused... (Join the club, Bobert, lotta it going 'round...) |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: Arkie Date: 02 May 08 - 09:00 PM According to figures used by Bush supporters defending the war and claiming that the war is not about oil, only 4% of petroleum used in this country was coming from Iraq. Could it be that this war is to protect the interests of American or Saudi investors in British Petroleum. |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: Ebbie Date: 02 May 08 - 09:10 PM "In the name of fighting the 9-11 terrorists, the Bush administration overthrew the one Arab government most adamantly opposed to the Saudi financiers of that son of their system, Osama bin Laden. Instead of confronting the royal leaders of a kingdom that supplied 15 of the 19 hijackers, we invaded a nation that supplied not a single one. While Bush overthrew Saddam Hussein, who had no ties to the hijackers, he embraced the leaders of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the only three nations in the world that had diplomatically recognized and supported the Taliban sponsors of al-Qaida." Robert Scheer And McCain agrees with and supports a war begun with that rationale and in such circumstances? I've coined a truism: There is one way that elderly John McCain is younger than the dubya. He is a 'son of a Bush.' |

Subject: RE: BS: McCain = Bush term three? From: dick greenhaus Date: 03 May 08 - 04:30 PM And Karl Rove said recently that if we were to pull out of Iraq, oil prices would go up to $200 per barrel. |
