Subject: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Little Hawk Date: 28 Jun 08 - 04:38 PM I did a Google search for "Shane McBride". Turns out that there is some young guy on MySpace called Shane McBride. He identifies himself as a folk-acoustic-punk singer. How about that? Here's his site: The other Shane McBride On it you will get to hear his music, and yes, it is folk/acoustic/punk. He doesn't look the least bit like our pal Shane from Blind River. Nor is he into the same kind of music. |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Amos Date: 28 Jun 08 - 11:31 PM And since he already has a Myspace page and presumably a physical body, it would seem someone out there has a stronger imagination than you... ;>) A |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Little Hawk Date: 29 Jun 08 - 09:18 AM How do you figure? It doesn't take much imagination to be born and have a physical body and get a page on Myspace. All you have to do is talk to various people in this town to confirm that.... Hell, the guy could have the imagination of a potatoe for all you know. |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Emma B Date: 29 Jun 08 - 09:34 AM Surely you mean 'stranger' imagination? Hey! I look in here everyday for the 'everyday story of Blind River folk' it sure beats The Archers, they haven't had a single alien abduction in the plot line in 50 years! |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Azizi Date: 29 Jun 08 - 10:08 AM EmmaB's comment leads me to ask, Little Hawk, when are you going to write a book about "your" Shane McBride and the other folks in "Blind River"? I sure would buy it [I'm talking about the book itself, and not the veracity of the stories that you [or Shane] would tell in the book]. |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Little Hawk Date: 29 Jun 08 - 10:35 AM (sigh) Well, if I only had the time...and the self-discipline... There are so many different things I like to do, but where is the time to do them? I would probably have to change the name of Blind River slightly to avoid various flak from the real town. It has occurred to me that it could be called "Blonde River" instead. ;-) That would have amusing possibilities...and people in Ontario would have no doubt about what place it really was referring to. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Les from Hull Date: 29 Jun 08 - 12:28 PM Ah but then you'll end up by upsetting blondes. I understand that they're real easy to upset. You cold can it Bind River, but then you'll have to pay me 0.00001% of the royalties! |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Amos Date: 29 Jun 08 - 12:29 PM Well begun is half done, as they do say, Mister Hawk. So go off, now, and strengthen yer will and write the book, there's a good lad... |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Little Hawk Date: 29 Jun 08 - 12:36 PM Yeah, but I also have to finish my record album, write a huge epic about Elves and Orcs/etc, get Chongo elected, do up a full history of the affaires of Penelope Rutledge and family, romance Winona Ryder, secure that date with Hillary, do my administrative duties at the William Shatner School of BAAAAD Acting, run my export business, find a cure for Spaw's, ummm, "problem"... Busy, busy, busy. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Les from Hull Date: 29 Jun 08 - 02:30 PM Well for a start, I think that there's already a huge epic about Elves and Orcs and things, and you're probably in the wrong country to get Chongo elected - although I understand in your neighbour to the South they'll elect anything! See, that's a lot of your work done for you already. The invoice is in the post. |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Emma B Date: 29 Jun 08 - 02:46 PM Maybe you should start on a smaller scale LH and put Chongo up for Mayor it worked in Hartlepool |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Little Hawk Date: 30 Jun 08 - 12:18 AM You're quite right, Emma. What Chongo really should do is run for Mayor of Chicago and use that as a springboard later to get into national politics. I think that like Dennis Kucinich he's mainly just trying to make a point and get his views heard in this election. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Rapparee Date: 30 Jun 08 - 09:00 AM Hell, Richard II's offspring will be Mayor of Chicago. Then his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and.... Chongo's got a chimp's chance in Gehenna of being elected. Now, he COULD lead an armed rebellion -- stage a coup d'etat -- and take over by force. Or go out to the Chicago cemeteries and fill in all the names on the tombstones, thereby depriving Daley of thousands of voters. |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 30 Jun 08 - 10:03 AM According to howmanyofme.com, there are 38 people named Shane McBride in the US. (That figure is derived using a statistical algorithm, not by actual count.) So, if the frequency of occurrence of "Shane" and "McBride" is the same in Canada as in the US, there should be 4 or 5 people named Shane McBride in Canada. But "McBride" may be considerably nore common in Canada since a higher percentage of Canadians are of Scottish ancestry. |

Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: KB in Iowa Date: 30 Jun 08 - 12:34 PM Some months ago there was a "GUEST" purporting to be Shane McBride who voiced his disapproval at the goings on of our Shane. This fellow claimed to be a member of the RCMP but I couldn't find any record of him. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Little Hawk Date: 30 Jun 08 - 12:39 PM Yeah, I bet he was perturbed about Shane's goings-on... Rapaire, you are quite right. Chongo should lead an armed rebellion in Chicago. It's the only way to throw out the scoundrels who are running that city. If the rebellion succeeded it could result in some pretty radical changes for the Windy City, let me tell you. I predict that the price of bananas would be halved under a Chongo-led regime. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Another Shane McBride??? From: Rapparee Date: 30 Jun 08 - 01:06 PM He could chop the prices of guillotines in half, too, considering how many would be needed for Chongo to get a head. |
