Subject: BS: American Government Owners' Manual From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 30 Jul 08 - 08:04 PM I found a series of essays at Cronwatch (link below) published this month under the umbrella title, "American Government: The Owners Manual," by John Armor. There are ten essay of about 700-800 words each, which comment on a particular aspect of how the Federal Government was meant to work under the Constitution. They are very readable; I recommend them highly. They are written, certainly, from a Conservative, perhaps Libertarian view. JohnotSC The Owners' Manual |

Subject: RE: BS: American Government Owners' Manual From: Big Mick Date: 30 Jul 08 - 08:50 PM Can't say I am in agreement with much of what I read, but there are a number of items which give me pause, and make me think. I would encourage those among us of a liberal bent to bookmark this site. Often I am accused of having debate in my genes, and am told it is hard to debate with me. That is because I spend a lot of time challenging myself, often harder than my "opponents" can. I certainly read some liberal sites, but I much prefer challenging myself on sites such as these. And I try to admit to myself where they are right, and then go about challenging what I find as wrong. Good site, John. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. All the best, Mick |

Subject: RE: BS: American Government Owners' Manual From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 30 Jul 08 - 09:09 PM Agreement is not necessarily the goal; understanding is. Certainly liberals, progressives or whatever sobriquet is applicable, may have a different perspective from the author's. I analogize it with the different reads with which Jews and Christians interpret the Hebrew Bible. Sorry Atheists and others, I don't have an analog for you. |
