Don't have time to do a forum search on Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears, but if I did, I'm gonna make a wild guess here and say the things people said about them before the McCain ad appeared likely wasn't that she was funny and smart, and we should have great empathy and compassion for her and her parents, because they are treated so unjustly. She's also one of those whose face can sell a goodly number of those checkout magazines, which means that there is probably more interest, amongst a certain section of the population, as there is in any politician. That section of the population generally have the VOTE. If they see one of their icons up there and mixing it with a political candidate what's the betting that they might decide to use that vote against the person who used their idol, in what could be seen as a derogatory manner, in his advert? That's your characterization and it's you pushing your political agenda into the discussion. This is about an individual pulled unwittingly into a field of discourse that she doesn't normally inhabit, and actually coming up with a suitable and measured response. Are we surprised? Yes. Should we be? Since most of us don't pay much attention to her either way, but some have discussed her and the brief jail sentence she served (where she was being a complete air head) then I think it is another "yes," we were surprised she could offer a well-balanced counter punch. Her response doesn't tell us who she will vote for, it isn't an endorsement, it is a "what if I entered this political venue" response. Good for her, she's growing up. She's not old enough to run for President so it is all good-spirited banter. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: beardedbruce Date: 06 Aug 08 - 04:08 PM Behind the scenes of Hilton's mock ad Wednesday, August 06, 2008 7:10:36 PM By DERRIK J. LANG Paris Hilton didn't need cue cards for her presidential campaign ad. The 24-year-old heiress memorized her entire monologue, which included Hilton outlining her energy plan, in an online video spoof posted on Funny or Die, the comedy Web site's content director said. Co-founder Adam McKay came up with the concept for a mock ad starring Hilton, which has received over 3 million views since it was posted Tuesday. "Adam thought it would be really funny to get Paris to respond to the John McCain ad that featured her," Funny or Die content director Amy Rhodes told The Associated Press on Wednesday. "Adam contacted Paris directly, and she agreed to do it. He wrote the sketch. And she really, really loved it." In the online video, Hilton -- clad in a leopard-print swimsuit and heels while lounging poolside -- announces her candidacy for president and suggests an energy plan that combines elements of McCain's offshore oil drilling plan and Barack Obama's incentives for new energy technology. She also suggests a running mate: R&B singer Rihanna. "I want America to know that I'm, like, totally ready to lead," she says in the video. Rhodes said the video was directed by Jake Szymanski and produced by Chris Henchy of Gary Sanchez Productions. She said the video took a few hours to shoot at the house where Hilton was staying at in the Hamptons. Rhodes also said Hilton was not compensated for appearing in the video "because she decided she just wanted to do it for fun." Jason Moore, Hilton's manager, would not comment to the AP about Hilton's appearance in the video. |

Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 06 Aug 08 - 05:03 PM Jokes can get out of hand... Imagine waking up in November and hearing that Paris Hilton had been elected President. After all a nation that could elect Dubya is capable of anything. Not as bad as it was waking up and hearing that Dubya had won, of course. |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Aug 08 - 05:04 PM She's an Amazon compared to Cindy McCain. Now Mrs. Obama looks like she can fill a wood stove! She may be thin but she is wiry! |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: gnu Date: 06 Aug 08 - 05:05 PM That was the point I made earlier. She got birch bark up the ass. And all the little beavers on this thread trying ta gnaw at the butt of her tree. Her dam is full and she built it and she can swim free. But, she is skinny as a maple sapling. Lass needs some flapjacks, maple slurpup and baked beans... put some meat on those bones before she shows of herself in public like that without proper clothes on. She's gonna catch cold, that waif. |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Aug 08 - 05:08 PM Maybe thats why she is going to Maui. >>Jokes can get out of hand... Imagine waking up in November and hearing that Paris Hilton had been elected President. After all a nation that could elect Dubya is capable of anything.<< Not to worry. I know that McCain endorsed her for President. But she is still too young. |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: Little Hawk Date: 06 Aug 08 - 05:16 PM It would be a hoot if Paris got elected president, but I think she would live to regret it...she doesn't deserve to go through the travails of that job, in my opinion. |

Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: Little Hawk Date: 06 Aug 08 - 05:59 PM Yeah, but Bush isn't, like, totally hot. He really isn't! He is, like, soooooo not hot! (No matter what Condoleeza says...) |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Aug 08 - 06:05 PM WARNING! READING THIS POST MAY CAUSE SEVERE HEADACHES AND DISTRESS! OK, Bear with me on this one. Bush and Paris have a love child. Somehow, it loses its trust fund. You are its guidance counsellor. What career do you advise? |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 06 Aug 08 - 07:58 PM "In any case, she presents a better energy policy than McCain" ... which is far better than The Apathy Policies put before us for decades... I'd say she's got balls, but somehow that just doesn't seem appropriate... |

Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: Little Hawk Date: 06 Aug 08 - 09:03 PM I'm not even going to try to answer that question, Jack.... But here's something else that everyone should know about. I went to the Zellers store in Orillia tonight to buy a couple of things. The girl at one of the checkouts in that Zellers store looks just about EXACTLY like Paris Hilton at her very best. In fact, this young woman in Orillia not only looks like Paris Hilton, I think her facial features are just a tad better than Paris's, but almost a dead ringer in every way. Same hair, same eyes, same facial features, same long legs, same figure...everything. And she's probably about 17 or 18 years old, I'd say. Downright scary. So I got into a brief conversation with her about it while she's ringing through my stuff. She smiled and blushed and said, "Yeah, I get that all the time." I bet she does. I wish I could take a photo of this young woman and show you all. It's really an amazing resemblance. |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: Bill D Date: 06 Aug 08 - 09:36 PM In California, there's probably 9,427 girls who "get that all the time". Remember too, Paris and Nicole Richie were in that silly TV thing a few years ago ...The Simple Life....Paris probably learned a LOT about energy living on a farm. |
Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: Charley Noble Date: 06 Aug 08 - 09:39 PM Bring on the clones! But only the totally hot ones. Anyone for toasted marshmellows? Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: BS: Score one for Paris Hilton From: Little Hawk Date: 06 Aug 08 - 11:40 PM Yes, Bill, but Orillia is a lot smaller than California. ;-) I have not seen any other girls in this town who look that much like Paris Hilton. |
