Subject: RE: BS: Bill Bailey, won't you please go home! From: fat B****rd Date: 15 Sep 08 - 06:20 AM Usually I really enjoy his stuff. Kraftwerk doing Das Hoki Koki is my favourtie. But then frivolity always did take preference over 'issues' for me. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bill Bailey, won't you please go home! From: Anne Lister Date: 15 Sep 08 - 07:44 AM Big fans here, too ... one of his albums had us laughing too much to drive safely, and we've watched and re-watched "Part Troll". So yes, please let him come home from Australia, especially if he's not being fully appreciated! Anne |

Subject: RE: BS: Bill Bailey, won't you please go home! From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 15 Sep 08 - 08:28 AM Oh - he's appreciated - he was on an ABC TV show called "Enough Rope" here. He did a bit of his music act... He was also asked "why are you a 'nutter magnet?" :-) I first discovered him on "Black Books". I've never been quite the same since.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Bill Bailey, won't you please go home! From: Art Thieme Date: 17 Sep 08 - 01:29 AM Huey Cannon wrote this song. Sarah Segris was the woman who stood outside the saloon and yelled in for her man, Willard Bailey, to come home. It seems that the women, or this woman, anyhow, weren't supposed to go inside and make a ruckus for some reason. Cannon got sick of hearing here yelling for her Bill to come home----i.e. this song. This was all told to me by Howard Armstrong (from the black band Martin, Bogan and Armstrong) who knew all the folks involved. Art Thieme |
