Subject: RE: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: Amos Date: 21 Sep 08 - 03:21 PM She's not qualified in the modern sense of job applications everywhere; she is simply legally qualified, but so is Bobert, or even David Miscavage (head f the Simontology outfit). That doesn't mean he could get the job, and it doesn't mean that she should get the job, on the basis of relative qualifications of knowledge, skill and experience. The COnstitution forbids any religious test for office, but it also prohibits the support of religion by the state, and that aspect alone disqualifies her, just as it should have disqualified Bush. Subject: RE: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: katlaughing Date: 21 Sep 08 - 03:07 PM Pedants: take it up with PBS!**bg** In 2007, she praised a pastor in Africa because his prayers helped her win the governorship according to her. The same pastor who was "called" to a specific town in Africa, who found a "cloud" of evil over the town and fingered an older woman as the "witch" who caused it. He harassed her, told her to "leave town or be saved" to the point where the police raided her house, two hundred townspeople rose up against her and, reportedly she left town. A witch as far as he was concerned...maybe not a far stretch for that woman from Alaska perpetrating such things in her extreme Christian way. I also read that her husband is known as the "Shadow Governor" as she shares the government doings with him. Which fits with my personal experience of former in-laws who belonged to an Assembly of God church where they speak in tongues, etc. Every woman in that church, at the time I knew it, had to be completely obedient to her husband. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: Donuel Date: 21 Sep 08 - 02:36 PM Sarah Palin is the kind of person who could be made to see the value in blaphemy laws and black listing. But it doesn't matter anymore. Every great thing this nation could have done is now impossible in bankruptcy. The only thing we are still good at is exploding nuclear weapons, but I suspect that they have probably suffered a few glitches as well. I imagine with Sarah Palin as President the culture war will be a battleground that could include police state tactics of censorship and inforcement. Sort of wierd Christian version of the Saudi Arabian religion police. Not that that would be a bad thing, there will still be plenty of Belgian Budweiser beer and guns. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: GUEST,Jack the Sailor Date: 21 Sep 08 - 02:26 PM I voted the way you asked. But technically Bill Clinton was right. The only qualifications are in the constitution and are that she be 35 years old and born in the USA. I think that may be part of the "approval" she is getting. The question is not whether she is qualified, but whether she is a good choice. If your major concerns are butting into other people's bedrooms, widening the gap between the rich and middle class and hastening Armageddon, she is nearly perfect. But if your time line for the future health and prosperity of the country is more than a year or two, she is a ridiculous choice. But not much worse than McCain. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: artbrooks Date: 21 Sep 08 - 02:26 PM I'd personally say that "eligible" and "qualified" are entirely different. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: Richard Bridge Date: 21 Sep 08 - 02:24 PM Done it. She is a joke - but a dangerous one. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: Donuel Date: 21 Sep 08 - 02:16 PM Of course you are right but objectively she is physically qualified to be President in the exact ame manner in which George W Bush IS. The business world have always found these kind of people wonderfully pliable to enable the maximum freedom for business and the minimum fredom for citizens. |
Subject: BS: Tell PBS she's not qualified From: katlaughing Date: 21 Sep 08 - 02:04 PM Another Mudcatter sent me a link to a PBS poll in which they ask if one thinks that woman from Alaska is qualified to be vice president. Apparently the "right" (which is anything but, imo) is trying to skew the results. Right now it stands at 53% say she is vs 45% say she isn't. If you are so inclined, please join me in making sure they know there are many of us who do NOT think she is qualified. Just Click Here! |
