Teribus - it sounds like you are in denial. Get over it. McCain lied to Letterman pure and simple.

Letterman is not claiming to anything more than a talk show host, but it is is plain as day that McCain and his staff lied. Open your eyes and you can see exactly what happened here.

Sounds like you are the one who needs to get over himself, not Letterman.

TB, you might want to go to 6:45 of that clip. Letterman said McCain called him personally, then said that a member of his staff. The point is that McCain is in charge of his campaign, he didn't honor a committment, and stayed in the city for other interviews, all the while portraying himself as the honorable leader just wanting to rush back to save his country. Then he went right out and campaigned. This, IMO, was because he knew that Letterman was going to ask him tough questions, albeit in Dave's own special way.

You put this next to his not wanting to debate, and along with him hiding his VP from serious questioning, and a pattern emerges. His house of cards is caving, his VP is slowly becoming the liability I predicted she would be, and Republican economic policies are strangling him. I see the end up ahead, and he is in a panic because he sees it too.

Letterman is so far up himself that it is unbelievable.

McCain told him a lie and he called him on it - Come on get real, even Letterman didn't say that McCain told him that he was flying immediately to Washington - Letterman said that somebody in his staff told him that somebody on McCain's staff told him that he was flying to Washington and had to cancel.

All the clip illustrated to me was the truth in Letterman's first evaluation, "Letterman, blow him off he's a lightweight" - Quite right he is.

Everyone has different tastes. Not everyone can grasp his style.   

Letterman challenges the medium, just like Ernie Kovacs did in his day. Some people do not "get it" and dismiss him, but once you see how he works he is brilliant - and well loved by his intelligent fans.

imo Oberman does not go over the top but rather he has consistently spoken truth to power. Oten he takes on the language and virtual personna of Edward R Murrow and speaks in a way we rarely hear anymore.

I assume you do not watch Letterman.   He is of no importance, other than being a celebrity who hosts a late night talk show and has a cross section of guests - including many politicians. He has fun with his guests, but he allows them to be serious.   

He was told a lie by McCain, and he called him on it. That is the importance in the scheme of things.

Even scarier is her involvement with Pastor Muthee who has literally "hunted witches" having one older woman run out of town in Africa. There is a video of the pastor actually laying his hands on Palin as he exhorts god to keep all "witches" from harming her: click here. (There is more about it after Keith gets a couple of other things out of the way.)

Olbermann is right, if this were Obama with a "witch-hunter" it would be all over the news!

Yep, friend Adrien, she is a frightening candidate. Not for what she doesn't know, but for what she pretends to know. Everytime she gets that "deer in the headlights" look and gives a silly answer, I imagine what it would be like if she was trying to pretend she has answers while she is covering by just bulling her way through with folks with nuclear capabilities. She is the best evidence I know for which to judge John McCain's decision making ability and fitness to lead this country in dangerous times. He made his first decision as the Presidential candidate, and the fact that he abandoned principle and judgement for political expediency shows that his fabled "love of country" is just so much hyperbole. I used to, at least, respect him. That vanishes more every day as he runs one of the most dishonest campaigns that this old political hack has ever seen.

We stayed up late just to watch this. It was really good! I think Letterman was genuinely miffed, esp. after he found out McCain was still in NYCity!

SRS, you can watch MSNBC online. Keith Olbermann's show is terrific, though I am sure some feel he goes over the top...he says much of the obvious which others skirt around. I also LOVE Rachel Maddow's show which is on right after his. She is also on Air America. She is smart and articulate...a Rhodes Scholar who went to Oxford and has a PhD in Poly-sci. Well worth watching, imo.:-)

Here is video of tonight's Leterrman show, after John McCain called and canceled saying he had to fly to Washington... then found that McCain was over in another studio talking to Katie Couric instead of flying to Washington.
