I've never had a corn dog.

I don't even know what they look like!

Me neither. And, I came sooo close. A while back, my SiL said she nukes em up fer the kids all the time and they like em. I said that I had never had one. Always wondered what they were like. Thought I'd get some next time they are on sale and.... you get the pic.... she didn't offer me one. Then again, the feeling is mutual.

Them's the dogs on a stick- right. However, the dogs have been dipped in a corn type of breading and deep fried. (Not as gross, actually, as deep frying a Mars bar in my estimation) Corn dogs very much resemble the cattail in a swamp.

Little Hawk, a corn dog will remind you less of a dachshund than a frankfurter does, so have at it.

I've never had a corn dog either.. not sure I want to, but they do sound like the battered sausages you get in chip shops in the UK. They're big sausages covered in savoury batter and deep fried. We don't put them on sticks though.

There are millions of things I've never had or done, but of all of the possibilities, I think I regret most never having a night of passion with Sean Connery...

I've never deliberately had anything pierced or tattooed. I've never gone out of my way to get into a fight. I've never ridden a bull, in the rodeo or out. I've never been in Oklahoma, Hawaii, or Arkansas. I've never performed solo cello with the New York Philharmonic. I've never written a world-changing novel or play. I've never killed a charging rhino by jumping on its back and cutting its throat with a penknife just before it stomped and gored the heroine. I've never visited Germany, Scandinavia, or Nunavit. I have no idea what it's like to live the life of the idle rich. I've never won the Nobel Peace Prize. I've never peed off the top balcony of Covent Garden.

Ah, my life is full of "never dones"! If only I could provoke a fight while riding a bull in Arkansas as I played solo cello with the New York Philharmonic...or something.

I never had http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1477582172034695358LZBmNc. It's a Hawaiian staple made from mashing/pounding the root of a Taro plant. It looks like glazed purple yogurt or cottage cheese, not looking appetizing.
At the constructtion site when the 'roach coach' came round where I was working, I was about to order it with my lunch when one of the Hawaiians I was working with said "DON'T". I told him that I wanted to try it seeing as it was the equivlent to rice or potatoes in other cultures. He told me he was raised on the stuff just like all Hawaiians & he didn't know one who'd eat it willingly. He went on & on, he finally talked me out of it.
I regret never having tried it even though looking at it's enough to make one want to vomit.

I've never been in Alabama...which is the only state south of Michigan that I've missed. I have no urge TO go to Alabama.
I've also missed N. Dakota, Minnesota, Vermont, N. Hampshire, Maine & Hawaii. I didn't spend much time in Idaho, but it's kinda skinny at Coeur d'Alene.

Sadly, I've never been to Europe or Australia.

I have never eaten haggis, been on skis, driven in a demolition derby, paid (directly) for sex, chewed tobacco or smoked a cigarette, broken any bones, shaved my head, been in active military, jumped out of a perfectly good airplane with a bit of nylon to keep me alive, contracted any 'social diseases', yelled 'fire' in a crowded theater, read "Remembrance of Things Past", insulted a Greco-Roman wrestler, owned a motor-home, attended a 'live' opera, killed a chicken, mooned out a car window, ...and I have never finished a list like this.

Corn dogs are WONDERFUL -- as long as the batter isn't too sweet. Last time I made them (back in the mists of pre-history) I think I used a Betty Crocker recipe (cookbook circa 1968), trying to replicate the corn dogs at the Wisconsin State Fair in the '60s.

I had my first (and so far only) Jell-O shot about a year ago.

I, too, have never changed a tire by myself, although I've assisted in the process.

And, believe it or not, I've never been to Canada -- although I was born in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, lived my early life in Wisconsin and the rest of my life (so far, that is) in New England -- always close to the Canadian border. And I have Canadian friends! Why haven't I visited, fer-pete's-sake?!?

Sigh. And now I probably need a passport (which I don't have).

I've seen the words in print, "From the collection of Linn S. Schulz" but I've never heard "Brought to you by a grant from Linn S. Schulz" (and the Exxon Corporation or something)) I've never had my writing described by the New York Times Book Review as "provocative" (or anything else).

You're right, Bill, there's no good reason for most people TO go to Alabama but, thankfully, there's no longer any good reason to avoid it either. Don't drive out of your way to miss it. It doesn't bite.


As to my own "never" list, I've never been to New York City. But My daughter's moving there in a couple of months so that'll probably change.

I've also never instigated a thermonuclear war. Okay, so there are six billion or so other people who also haven't instigated a thermonuclear war. The rules didn't say anything about it having to be something unique!

I've never eaten flan. In fact, I'm not exactly sure what flan is. I remember watching a movie once in which the woman's husband divorced her because she wouldn't make flan. As of tonight, I can say that I've been on a DATE to the roller derby, that was sorta new... well, both are sorta new to me, so together... And they had funnel cakes, there, too! Right next to the beer.

I have never done acid: too scared.

I never told my Catholic high school principal what a #$&*#'d up miserable pervert he was, and I regret that.

And there are people I never told what they meant to me before they left this world, but I think there's a whole 'nother thread on that.

I HAVE, however, replaced the innards of a toilet, installed a thermostat, and bought the house they live in, in that order.

I've never had a Holland and Holland .700 Nitro Express double rifle, nor had I ever seen the need to have one -- charging bull elephants are rare in Idaho. Besides, there's a 10 year wait to have one made and by that time I'd have been trampled flat.

I've also never had the engine quit on a plane I was flying, but then I've never had a pilot's license.

Although I have eaten blood, brains, heart, liver, marrow and sausage casings, I have never, to my knowledge, eaten tripe, sweetbeards, kidneys, testicles, eyeballs (although eyeballs preserved in formaldehyde do bounce quite nicely), or spleen.

I have eaten alligator, wild duck, deer, elk, bison, whale, squirrel, wild rabbit, caribou, reindeer, and various types of fish, but I haven't (as far as I know) eaten antelope (but there is some in the freezer), wildebeest, Irish elk, moose, okapi, bear, seal, lion, chimpanzee, porcupine, skunk, beaver, or eagle.

Did finally see "Mary Poppins" for the first time last year -- and LOVED it. Have read one of the Mary Poppins books and I'm trying to scare up the others.

I've never climbed a mountain over 2000 feet.

Never eaten sheep's eyes -- but I HAVE eaten tripe, eels (usually smoked; not jellied), moon snails, sea urchin roe, beef tongue, veal and beef heart, kidneys, liver, rattlesnake, buffalo, ants (intentionally -- covered in chocolate), pickled pig's feet, hog hocks, and probably some other odd things I can't think of right now. I go out of my way to try just about anything (foodwise) once. I've eaten WHOLE raw scallops (what people think of as "scallops" are actually just the aductor muscle) when I got them so fresh I could do that.

Oh yeah, squid. I like squid a lot.

Never skydived nor bungee jumped. Or climbed up a cliff. My acrophobia says no way in hell.
