Subject: Obit: Edmund Purdom From: Fiolar Date: 06 Jan 09 - 08:11 AM Sadly Edmund Purdom has gone to the great theatre in the sky. He passed away on January 1st aged 84. I remember him best for his role in the 1954 film "The Student Prince" where he took over from Mario Lanza, although it was Lanza's voice that was used for the songs. At Peace. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Edmund Purdom From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 06 Jan 09 - 10:25 AM Thank you for that clip, Bob. That was my favorite movie when I was about 15 years old. Purdom never had much of a Hollywood career, but he was a working actor, I guess, for a long spell. Fifty-five years on, I think the only principal players from the Egyptian still alive are Tommy Rettig, the boy, and Jean Simmons. RIP, Mr. Purdom. |
