Hi Guys and Gals,

I just finished reading a feature in the April, 2009 USA addition of National Geographic Magazine about the serious water crisis, apparently not entirely attributable to drought, in the Murray-Darling Basin.

I certainly know from many of your posts to the fire threads, as well as other threads, that the drought situation there continues to be very serious, but this article leads me to think that you are facing possibly catastrophic water shortages with major economic and food implications for your country. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts regarding the article, and the issue.

The article can be found here.

Thanks.

Janie

Thanks for the links, Sandra. Still reading my way through them.

Sounds like farmers in the Central Valley of California are about to encounter similar difficulties.

Everyone should see the documentary about the American West called "Cadillac Desert".

It is a four part series done by PBS in 1997. Fairly accurate data and good production values.
