Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Shosholoza - The Spinners From: maeve Date: 08 Jul 09 - 07:17 PM Because of your thread I've gone looking for information about Cliff Hall and The Spinners, about whom I know very little. I found several interesting links, and discovered that Mr. Hall shares a birthplace with my dad. Here's one link Cliff Hall & The Spinners And another, here Cliff Hall's obit I'll look for possible answers (in addition to Commander Crabbe's suggestion) when I have more time. I'll also check our Spinners LPs in case we have it. Thanks for the interesting question. maeve |

The problem is I can't remember what the shanty was." maeve |

Subject: Lyr Req: Shosholoza - The Spinners From: folkypaul Date: 07 Jul 09 - 12:36 PM From a number of years ago I remember a son which I thought was "Jojoloza" which the Spinners sang. I also remember the Teesside Fettlers singing it. Cliff Hall sang the "Jojoloza" part and it segued (not a bad word for a Teesside lad) into a shanty. The problem is I can't remember what the shanty was. Any clues out there. PaulO |
