Try Trio Threlfall. The two Threlfall Sisters sing accompanied but their material is almost entirely traditional and traditional songs are always singable unaccompanied. Their harmonies are excellent, so should give you some ideas.

IIRC, you are based in N. Yorks. They are at the Chillingham arms on Tyneside in October. Try to get along to see them. You will be in for a treat.

Their website is here

I have a few "Celtic Women" CDs which are a good source. As regards individual songs, SOVAY, SOVAY is a good one and really good for a duo (I only sing it with a friend).

Willa

I have a copy of two Janet Russell and Christine Kydd albums including that one. We saw them together in Arran years ago and thought they were wonderful. Janet also very kindly gave my wife a singing lesson some years ago as a birthday present which was particularly appreciated as she doesn't really do one to one lessons. So I'm a big fan.

I have the 'True Hearted Girl' CD and agree that it's a good source.

Watersons albums, esp the early ones, should provide some material. Start off with HOLMFIRTH ANTHEM [Abroad for pleasure as I was walking]. And so forth {or and so Holm-forth!} ;>}

They might be able to get hold of a copy of this album, or get ideas from the track list. Janet and Christine did have accompaniment, but I'm sure most of these would be OK without.

I'm sure there have been many other threads on this but find the search mechanism doesn't always work for me! So apologies if this goes over old ground - by all means point me to previous threads.

We have two Silly Sisters albums which may yield an idea or two

My wife has started singing with a friend and they are looking for suggestions for good unaccompanied songs to sing as a duo. They have started with some songs that they know:

JOHN BALL
JACK HALL
WINDMILLS (Alan Bell)
MY LADY'S A WILD FLYING DOVE
War Song (Linda Kelly)
SWEET BRIDE

Any suggestions?
