Subject: RE: Ideas for unaccomp songs for female duo From: Tootler Date: 09 Aug 09 - 05:43 PM Try Trio Threlfall. The two Threlfall Sisters sing accompanied but their material is almost entirely traditional and traditional songs are always singable unaccompanied. Their harmonies are excellent, so should give you some ideas. IIRC, you are based in N. Yorks. They are at the Chillingham arms on Tyneside in October. Try to get along to see them. You will be in for a treat. Their website is here |
Subject: RE: Ideas for unaccomp songs for female duo From: naughtyforty Date: 09 Aug 09 - 02:59 PM I have a few "Celtic Women" CDs which are a good source. As regards individual songs, SOVAY, SOVAY is a good one and really good for a duo (I only sing it with a friend). |

Subject: RE: Ideas for unaccomp songs for female duo From: Nick Date: 09 Aug 09 - 08:20 AM Willa I have a copy of two Janet Russell and Christine Kydd albums including that one. We saw them together in Arran years ago and thought they were wonderful. Janet also very kindly gave my wife a singing lesson some years ago as a birthday present which was particularly appreciated as she doesn't really do one to one lessons. So I'm a big fan. |

Subject: RE: Ideas for unaccomp songs for female duo From: Willa Date: 09 Aug 09 - 06:25 AM They might be able to get hold of a copy of this album, or get ideas from the track list. Janet and Christine did have accompaniment, but I'm sure most of these would be OK without. http://www.musicscotland.com/cd/christine-kydd-janet-russell-musicscotland.html |
Subject: RE: Ideas for unaccomp songs for female duo From: Nick Date: 09 Aug 09 - 06:20 AM I'm sure there have been many other threads on this but find the search mechanism doesn't always work for me! So apologies if this goes over old ground - by all means point me to previous threads. We have two Silly Sisters albums which may yield an idea or two |
