Subject: BS: Happy B.D., Curmudgeon! From: Bat Goddess Date: 30 Sep 09 - 08:35 AM After the summer of his silent discontent, I sincerely hope my darlin' Curmudgeon has a lovely anniversary of his birth. And since my birthday advice always includes celebrating for at least a month, that should include the first steps at restoring his voice. So far on his celebratory docket today there's hanging around a garage for a few hours while his old friend and former teaching colleague repairs his car's brakes and installs new tires. Then he can wait in line at Motor Vehicles to renew his driver's license and get an unflattering portrait taken. THEN...he can meet me at Newick's on the bay for ten bucks off his B.D. dinner (probably of his favorite -- fried clams). Happy birthday, my love! I hope we share many many more! Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy B.D., Curmudgeon! From: Bat Goddess Date: 30 Sep 09 - 06:52 PM Alas, his B.D. "celebrations" including finding out his car is repairable only if large amounts of cash are thrown at it. So....he got to spend copious amounts of time on the phone with our trusted used car guy and found another Saturn, four years newer, with substantially fewer miles on it and for only about a thousand bucks more than the repairs would cost. And it has a HEATER (which the old one lacked all through last winter; brrrrrrrrrr!) That kept him from standing in line at Motor Vehicles to get his pitcher took by the camera that makes everyone look equally hideous. (Friday...) Fried clams and fried shrimp (and pints of Guinness) overlooking the very chill looking bay and home, feeling quite stuffed. Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy B.D., Curmudgeon! From: Bat Goddess Date: 02 Oct 09 - 07:55 PM "The song" is that pinnacle of banality, "Happy Birthday". ANYTHING but that so called "song" -- we usually do Happy B.D. to the tune of the Halleluyah Chorus, or "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" or "Why Were You Born So Beautiful?" (And sometimes someone joins in with the SCA birthday dirge.) But never THAT stupid song. Linn |
