Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: jacqui.c Date: 09 Nov 09 - 12:32 PM Good news folk1e. I'm just back home for a while before going to pick Kendall up from surgery. Lobster is cooling in preparation for the lobster roll he will be having for lunch. He deserves it. We didn't get a call last week to let us know what time his surgery would be - I wasn't too well and didn't think about it until it was too late and no-one was answering phones over the weekend. As a result we were up before 6.00am and at the surgical unit at 7.00am, only to be told that his surgery was scheduled for 9.40am. Bear in mind - no coffee, no breakfast this morning. Anyway, we came back home for a while, I took the dog to the beach and Kendall sat and watched 60 minutes and fumed. Back to the unit for 8.30. Sat in the waiting room for about 30 minutes and then were called in. Lovely nurse looked after us, got Kendall into regulation hospital outfit - gown and socks, but no hat this time, checked his vitals and put the IV in his arm. We then waited, and waited. About 10.30 Kendall asked when he would be going in - nurse went away and came back to say that the first surgery on his consultant's list, which was scheduled for an hour and a half, had hit complications and that it would be another hour or so before they could get to Kendall. We decided to reschedule as Kendall by this time was changing from Dr Jekyll to Mr Hyde. IV came out, Kendall got dressed and then nurse came back in to say that the consultant was insisting that this biopsy be done today. Back into hospital gear, IV back in, and at that point Kendall sent me off to buy the promised lobster while he waited and fumed. That's it for now - I've cooked his lobster and put a pot of coffee ready to go on. Once I've pulled the poor crustacean apart I'll head back to the unti to wait. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: Ebbie Date: 09 Nov 09 - 12:41 PM The "poor crustacean'? Tear him apart? Surely, surely, Jacqui, that is an extreme response? You knew he was crusty before you married him... |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: jacqui.c Date: 09 Nov 09 - 01:05 PM Yes - but take away his coffee and breakfast and it goes WAY past crusty! |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: katlaughing Date: 09 Nov 09 - 01:09 PM Just remember your own words about the Great Spirit, Kendalldarlin' and I'll be backing you up with thank givings from Colorado for a complete and immediate healing with no need for any more of this stuff! luvyaBOTH, kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: SINSULL Date: 09 Nov 09 - 01:29 PM No love for the poor lobster, kat? Good news, Jacqui. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: jacqui.c Date: 09 Nov 09 - 02:41 PM Update. We just got back and he's sitting in his recliner with his lobster rolls and a cup of regular coffee to hand. Seamus is giving him his undivided attention, at least until the lobster is all gone. Kendall has his remote close by and, apart from feeling a bit woozy, all is right with his world at the moment. The consultant called me - they got a couple of good samples and we should get the results by the end of the week. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: maeve Date: 09 Nov 09 - 02:44 PM Thank you, Jacqui. Hugs to you both and a pat for Seamus. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: SINSULL Date: 09 Nov 09 - 03:03 PM And a lobster claw (meat not shell) for Seamus too. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: gnu Date: 09 Nov 09 - 03:04 PM Me too. End of the week! Wow! That's fast. Keeping fingers and toes crossed here. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: katlaughing Date: 09 Nov 09 - 03:32 PM May the Great Good Spirit manifest pure and healthy cells for Kendall in all ways. This or something better for the highest good of all concerned. So mote it be! |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: Deckman Date: 09 Nov 09 - 04:00 PM Hang in there Captain ... bob |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: Rasener Date: 09 Nov 09 - 04:07 PM Kendall I Hope things go well. I will be going for my 4th attempt at a biopsy soon. I know you are eating lobsters, but I sure as hell hope you don't get crabs :-) Les |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: catspaw49 Date: 09 Nov 09 - 04:26 PM End of the week? You're at the wrong place! Karen is a Senior Lead Histotech at Mt. Carmel (4 hospitals in Columbus) and that lab processes biopsies really fast......Full series, not just frozens. Anything submitted today by 8 PM is ready for a pathologist (on their desk and ready to read) tomorrow morning at 9AM. They're one of the very few labs that operates a full staff night shift to get the majority of the production work done. Anyway, I'm holding my best thoughts for all to be well and I am so sorry you were rolled by a lobster. Say, ask Sinsull how many miles you travelled huh? Spaww |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: gnu Date: 09 Nov 09 - 04:40 PM My biopsy results were to take "a week to ten days" and I didn't get a call. I got an appointment... 16 days. Hmmmm... I have frozen lobster. Bought some of the stuff in the vacuum plastic on sale. FAR better than the canned stuff because there is much less water and salt. Maybe that is sommat I could do "now". |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: sing4peace Date: 09 Nov 09 - 06:30 PM thinking of you both tonight. Sending light......................> JK |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: Bat Goddess Date: 09 Nov 09 - 06:32 PM All the best from this neck of the woods. Lucky Kendall at only being coffee-deprived for a matter of hours (too damned many, I know!) -- Tom's last coffee was an after dinner Lebanese coffee the evening before his Oct. 20th cancer surgery. Sigh. Believe me, Jacqui, I understand. Hugs to both of you. Linn |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: gnu Date: 09 Nov 09 - 06:43 PM Well... that's what the ENT says... As fer me... no tea? No gnu. I'll have me tea. |

Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: VirginiaTam Date: 10 Nov 09 - 02:46 AM Kendall and Jacqui here is me.... thinking at thee good stuff all ways, always |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: kendall Date: 10 Nov 09 - 05:35 AM Oh well, a Lobster roll, coffee, my recliner and remote, 60 minutes and a steak dinner on top of a string of apologies from the surgeon in person, it don't get much better. Maybe he just doesn't want to appear in my next book. (Seriously, he is a hellofafine guy.) The delay wasn't even his fault. Thanks to every one of you. Dan, it's so good to have you back. Please stay. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: catspaw49 Date: 10 Nov 09 - 07:30 AM I hope he stays too Kendall but what kind of example are you setting allowing yourself to get rolled by a freakin' lobster and probably mugged by clams as well. Aren't you into the concealed carry thing? Man, if I were you, I'd be shooting every one of those little freaks!!! Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: GUEST,olddude Date: 10 Nov 09 - 08:15 AM Well Jacqui will give you "Lob-St-A" when you are sick. But if you don't stay well I am driving down, getting Spaw and we will come up after we eat every spicy burrito we can find ... so stay well or else! Dan |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: Becca72 Date: 10 Nov 09 - 08:18 AM I'm concerned about my dad, but I'm also concerned about Gnu. CANNED lobster??? Oh the humanity! |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: SINSULL Date: 10 Nov 09 - 08:55 AM Ah gnu! That is pathetic! I wonder if Canada will allow for lobsters shipped across the border? I know they allow well behaved gnus to cross the border. Then you could meet a real lobster. Kendall might even hypnotize one for you. I will explain how many miles you have travelled when we are face to face, Kendall. It's a Spaw thing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: gnu Date: 10 Nov 09 - 12:24 PM No, no, no, no, no!!! Frozen lobster is for when the shops are closed.... you know, in an emergency. We get fine lobster here, albeit more exspensive. And, I have hypnotized them as well. Even clams. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: Bill D Date: 10 Nov 09 - 12:29 PM for you, Kendall...you can either eat him or wrestle him or make up a story about him. "The largest lobster on record, according to the 1998 Guinness Book of World Records, is 44 pounds, 6 ounces, 3 feet 6 inches from the end of tail fan to tip of largest claw. The oldest lobster on record is believed to be around 100 years old. Since the only way to judge a lobsters age is by it's size, any figure relevant to the age of a lobster is just a guess. There's no way to really tell. It is believed that they could live as long as 150 years. But no one knows for sure." |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: VirginiaTam Date: 10 Nov 09 - 02:27 PM gnu hypnotizes clams? nice to see the cameo appearance by olddude Kendall - hope you enjoyed the steak dinner and that you are keeping calm. Stress is evil poisonous stuff. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: kendall Date: 10 Nov 09 - 02:43 PM Spaw, I don't waste bullets on Lobsters, I just pop them into a pot of boiling water. After I hypnotize them of course. They don't feel a thing. Well, if they do they never let on. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: gnu Date: 10 Nov 09 - 03:15 PM Depends which way ya dump em, Kendall. Head first, when they wave, ya can't see it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: Severn Date: 10 Nov 09 - 03:29 PM Best wishes from Laurel, MD for the best Opsy results money can buy. You aren't quite ready to go pushin' up Opsy Daisies for a good while yet. |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: catspaw49 Date: 10 Nov 09 - 04:14 PM I dunno' Kendall.....I saw a Gary Larson picture where the lobster was struggling against the pot and screaming, "AUNTIE EM!!! AUNTIE EM!!!!" Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Another biopsy From: open mike Date: 10 Nov 09 - 04:30 PM here's to a good report!! all we have here in inland california is crawdads... i did do a crawfish boil party for a Swedish summer party but it is just not the same... |
