A fantastic night was enjoyed by all.

As ever Johnny was on great form with his bouncing of Dave who is as solid a musician as you are ever likely to see.

Johnny has an energy and enthusiasm and a love of live that is all too rare.

Big thanks to those who helped with floor spots, the door, MC duties and in tidying the room up at the end of the night.

Bye for now, off for the rutting season. On Johnny's recomendation think I will try Nothern Norway this year.

Big Elk

Saw Jonhnny at Poynton festival a few years back and he was brill. Great that he's still gigging around and great to here he's back performing with Dave Moses. Ahhh, remember Country Meets Folk with Wally Whyton.....showing me age now!

A hill and a valley, a view to the sea.......'

As a recent regular I can confirm that Tudor provides the warmest of welcomes to performers, and punters, of any age.

Johnny Silvo's track record speaks for itself - you know you're in for a good night. Why not come along on Monday and check out the club at the same time? Speaking from experience it won't be your last visit.

In harmony (mostly)

Jamie

If you ever hear Johnny sing some of the more emotional songs like Duke Ellington's Black and Blue, Mr Echo, you may change your mind. (Last visit to Tudor he caused more than a few damp eyes).

He still belts them out but he also has finesse, emotion and the   ability to vary the pace pitch and timbre of his set.

Unlike most artistes of his age he lives very much in the here and now and not in the 5 decades that span his career. A role model for life not just for music.

As much as we love the oldies, Tudor as a club also goes out of its way to find and book emerging acts (not as easy as you may think), who in 40 years time may become the golden oldies.

Big Love

Big Elk

Its nothing more than sheer entertainment and what does that say about the folk scene today when one of the great golden oldies from the 60s can keep doing this year after year, same gigs, same songs same crowds.

then there's Vin G

Maybe the younger brigade can learn a lesson here?

Johnny's appearance at the Royal Marine Association Club listed above by 'guest' is actually the Friday Folk Club, Deal - we use the upstairs room at the RMA club - (stairlift available for those who can't tackle stairs). Johnny appears at our club every November and never fails to put on a great show - it's always a full house so come early if you're in the area and want a seat!

I imagine so. That's the sort of noisy tosh he was belting out in the late 60s when he and his then manager Ron Ziegler decided to set up camp near my caravan after a gig in Cornwall. Almost got me fired from the hotel I worked in. A year or so later, I had commenced writing music features and my then editor (for reasons best known to himself) wanted an interview with JS. I sought him out in a Cambridge field where he insisted he was Labi Siffre. From then on I was have remained convinced that he and anyone associated with him is completely bonkers.

I think it best not to respond to the esteemed organ as I was always told my my mum not to score points and that if I did not have anythig positive to say , to keep my mouth shut.

If you would care to look at some FAQ somewhere or other, you will see that the amended format is that required by "da management". Furthermore, "Guests" should stick to a recognised user name or risk being deleted.

What's more, my esteemed organ has an "H" in the middle, indicating that its circulation covers the city of Borchester and environs and not necessarily the entire county, which is in any case Borsetshire.

Johnny lives in Norway and does 2 small UK tours a year only. He keeps threatening each tour will be his last. In reality he is singing and playing better than ever

Chesham is on the Met line or is 25 min off peak by car from Central London. The Whitehill Centre is only 5 min walk from the Tube Station, so treat Chesham as North London and the only London Gig

As far as I am aware this is the only Gig with Dave Moses , so be there.

Nice to see something positive, as The Borcester Echo had either killed Johnny off or gone into some form of procedural tailspin.

Much Love

Big Elk

Those aware that a tour by a particular artist is due are especially likely to be alarmed at seeing just that artist's name. That is why an informative thread title as it has now been amended is infinitely preferable.
