From: Pierre Le Chapeau

I agree Errol flung,
but last year the police presence was a thin blue line Saturday and Sunday which is good. I was stopped by two W.P.C,S who enquired of me the contents of my Tankard. late afternoon on the Sunday I quote"
Excuse me Sir 'Is that beer in that Mug.
Beer it is not I said with a wide gesture of the arm.
Its Mead. I,ll drink it up forth with I said.
Yes Please do . Which I did.
So the police were clamping down late Sunday on people drinking openly in the town.
I was also stopped on the way back to my B&B has routine by a patrol car but I explained where I been that I was ok and heading back to bed whereby they took me upon me word and went on there way. So the Medway Police are about.

I understand though the event is policed by cost so the presence is rather a thin police presence clearly by what we witnessed on he Monday .
regards Pierre.

It's a shame that to have to bring some civilisation to Rochester it looks likely to be necessary to destroy a building (but I can see the argument).

It's a bit like the below the line thread about getting rid of rats.

What Fire?

The Casino Rooms caught fire on the Sunday last year. Sadly, it was put out before too much damage was done.

The building is blameless. But the rats who own it and frequent it are quite otherwise.

Were these rats grilled on the subject? If the fire had not been quenched, they could have got a roasting! Anyway, however it's cooked, it all ends up tasting of chicken.....

I couldn't speak for every leopard, but we don't generally eat chicken. I believe that chickens and leopards live in totally different habitats. We spotty ones know however that carrots were originally purple. (See other thread). Plectrums come in many colours, but do not taste of chicken.

But when Andrew's is retrieved from where it will be put if various people re-unite him and it, will it SMELL of chicken?

This is now plucking ridiculous on two fronts.

Message from Doug Hudson:

"I hope to have some Sweeps Festival programmes next week. This year the council have produced a flyer but have decided to distribute fewer programmes before the event itself. They want to have a large number of giveaways during the festival.
It is available online in PDF form for anyone who wants to download in the meantime:

"The Sweeps Festival programme has gone to print and will be back this Friday. 2,000 copies will be delivered to the VIC, with 1,000 coming here to me for mailing list (any left over from this will go to Corn Exchange). The balance of 13,000 will be delivered to the Corn Exchange for use at the festival itself.

If anyone wants to download copies of the programme it is available here:.

URL is http://www.whatsonmedway.co.uk/site/whats-on-search/rochester-sweeps-festival-p454521

There will also be a link from Medway Council's main site to this page.""

Is that right?

According to the official programme John Barden is Hosting Sing - arounds in the Good Intent on Friday, Saturday & Sunday 8.45 - 11pm what happened to the afternoon singaround? Why has it been moved to later at night, many of us have to get public transport home, so will not now be able to attend! And why no Ruff 'n Reddy?

And where's my plectrum?

I posted this on the other thread, but just in case Andrew the Plectrumless doesn't see it:-

Andrew Sans Plectrum (or is that Andrew lack plectrum)? - - - Any old how the programme was posted earlier on the site - but to reiterate

Friday 30/04/2010 from about 20:45 to close singaround/session with John Barden
Saturday 01/05/2010 from 12:30 to 14:30 (but it WILL continue, bet your boots) and 20:45 to close as above with John Barden.
Sunday 02/05/2010 from 12:30 to 14:30 singaround/session with Ruff & Reddy. 15:00 to 20:00 - floor spots and guests with Gastove and then 20:45 to close singaround/session with John Barden including a few songs from festival guest Mike Nicholson (a good mate and fabulous player and singer).
Monday 03/05/2010 from 12:30 to falling over singaround/session with Ruff and Reddy.

John Barden

BT will now give me credit on the perfectly good 2 phones I threw away.
