Subject: song 'bout Grandpa and the apple tree From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 12 Aug 99 - 01:29 AM I've checked Lester Levy's site and the Historic Sheet Music site at Duke Univ....Possibly a song from the 1900's...(helping a friend with this one). Many thanks, Mary Here are partial lyrics...anyone know it?

Subject: Lyr Add: THE OLD APPLE TREE^^^ From: katlaughing Date: 12 Aug 99 - 01:40 AM Here ya go. If you need the tune, let me know your email (in a private message if you prefer) and I will send it on Mediaring. My sister, bet, and I sang this at a gig this summer:
OLD APPLE TREE
Oh, the old apple tree in the orchard
Then one day pappy took Mrs. Norton
When the neighbors came after poor pappy
Chorus:
Say goodbye (echo)
Say goodbye (echo)

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: song 'bout Grandpa and the apple tre From: GUEST,Kathleen Date: 01 May 05 - 09:52 PM I can't beleive someone else is looking for this verse. I had it written on the back of an old picture from my childhood. I did not know if I made it up or heard it somewhere. But seeing that it is Irish. I am sure my Dad sang it to me. He was always singing something. Usually Irish songs. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: song 'bout Grandpa and the apple tre From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 01 May 05 - 10:40 PM You've managed to find the only one of several old threads here dealing with the song that doesn't have any useful information in it (apart from partial lyrics, of course). It isn't an Irish song, of course; American, c.1938. See Song info: Old apple tree in the orchard for writer credits and some background. |
