Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Raptor Date: 13 Feb 11 - 06:55 PM So now lets talk about the combine then the draft Then signings, Preseason untill september... Oh wait that doesn't suit John on the sunset coast we better stop now till he tells us we can talk football again. And I thought all the sunset coasters were mellow from all the weed! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Jack the Sailor Date: 13 Feb 11 - 04:11 PM Yeah John, You are the only person who sees the humour in this. We all aspire to your impersonal detachment. For instance we admire the way you got all of your discussion of this year's half time show before it began while the rest of us had to wait until after it was over. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 13 Feb 11 - 03:46 PM You're right, Jack,my comment was about as stupid as someone comparing the super bowl to the Civil War...a lot in common, there. The late, great radio host known as Super Fan ended every show with, "In the game of life, sports is the toy department." Except maybe in yours life. I was having a bit of fun with you guys...you're having a heart attack, Jack. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Jack the Sailor Date: 13 Feb 11 - 03:35 PM Perhaps you would like to explain why you would open a thread A WHOLE WEEK after the big game, if you think that those posting on it are somehow stuck in some sort of non-life getting on with groove? Even worse, why you would make such a stupid comment then follow up to see if it was answered? :-) Did you realize that Super Bowl Troll has a ring to it? Are you angling for that nick name? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 13 Feb 11 - 03:21 PM Hmmm, off your meds today, Jack? |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Jack the Sailor Date: 13 Feb 11 - 02:42 PM What is it about the Mudcat that makes it apparently acceptable to come onto a thread with no other intention than to ridicule those posting on it? The fucking US Civil war has been over for some time. Does that mean it should not be talked about? IF YOU DON'T LIKE A THREAD, Here is a suggestion, DON'T OPEN IT!!!!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 13 Feb 11 - 01:53 PM Bachmann & Turner? Rats! I woulda watched that. John... move on... let it go. ;-) |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Lonesome EJ Date: 13 Feb 11 - 01:12 PM The highlight of the Peas' set was Slash emerging from the stage to play Sweet Child of Mine with Fergie on vocal. I still thought her vocal fell short of Axl Rose by a long shot. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 13 Feb 11 - 12:45 PM I'm still waiting to see the Grey Cup halftime show - they had Bachmann & Turner. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Jack the Sailor Date: 13 Feb 11 - 11:54 AM Marching bands are for college. The Super Bowl is all about the hype and the biggest possible stadium music acts performing. I thought that Peas were OK. Though Fergie was the only one who sounded like her voice was not pitch corrected. I try to keep in mind that current popular music is not aimed at my taste. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: J-boy Date: 13 Feb 11 - 02:03 AM I already miss it. Other sports have their charms but nothing, and I mean nothing, equals the NFL. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: mousethief Date: 07 Feb 11 - 06:49 PM I agree with Q, I couldn't take it nor the halftime show. Sorry no fan of the peas, just don't care for the music. Wait, there was music? |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 07 Feb 11 - 05:15 PM There's been quite a few leagues in Britain, unfortunately sometimes at the same time. The USAF had its own league for a long time, even played their finals at Wembley. The first game I saw was an exhibtion match during the Edinburgh Festival - (Chicksands) Fighting Chicks v the Suffolk Titans on 1 September 1962 at Goldenacre, then the Chicks were back a year later at Inverleith facing the Sabres from France. I supported the Ravens because they were the first British team I saw that played as if they knew what they were doing Victor Ebubedike (later Mohammed) ended up on the NY Jets squad. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 07 Feb 11 - 04:44 PM A Brit Yankee football league? Cool! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 07 Feb 11 - 04:29 PM I watched till half time, then left the timer running and went to bed - if I'd stayed up I'd probably had some more Noah's Mill and missed the second half any way. Got up this mornin, watched a minute or so of the peas, then fast forwarded to the second half, then watched till the end. As they mentioned several times in the studio here, since the Beeb's been covering the game, we've had a string of great Superbowls. Tiki Barber was impressed by how many Brits stayed up. Great to see Lombardi going home, though I wouldn't have minded too much if the Steelers had won. They remind me of a team I used to support: The Black Shadow |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 07 Feb 11 - 03:37 PM Q... kids drink more beer than old folks and kids don't know music until they are old folks. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 07 Feb 11 - 03:10 PM The peas made me wonder- whatever happened to the old halftime shows with marching bands, and songs one could sing or listen to? I can't believe noise helps sell beer or whatever on these telecasts. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 07 Feb 11 - 02:00 PM I just googled the peas and listened to a song(?) called My Humps for about 20 seconds... WAY too long. Glad I missed the halftime. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: olddude Date: 07 Feb 11 - 01:54 PM I agree with Q, I couldn't take it nor the halftime show. Sorry no fan of the peas, just don't care for the music. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 07 Feb 11 - 01:38 PM The game was pretty interesting, but all the hype preceeding it almost turned me off from watching it. One hype-er even suggested it was an unofficlal national holiday. I started to look at the half-time show, but couldn't stomach it, so switched to a news channel. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 07 Feb 11 - 10:46 AM Well, thank God that's over with. Now we can go back to solving the ills of the world. Or even discussing music. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 11 - 08:44 PM I was wrong... the running game seems to be the way to go. GAME ON! |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 11 - 08:16 PM Q... isn't it sad? BIG star and she really sucked the big one. Pathetic! The Yankee anthem is the best "overall" anthem I have ever heard and to have it murdered like that is almost disrespectful. As for the game... it's still Sunday. But, the Packer rush and secondary are shutting Big Ben down. If the Steelers do not establish a viable running game in the third quarter, they are fucked unless they get lucky in the long game. But... whaddya do? Go for the long and lucky now or go with the running game and hope you have enough time to run and then shoot? I'd go for the shootout now... Pack injuries dictate taking the chance... ???? |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 11 - 06:33 PM Dear Lord... we ask that you bless the referees and keep them from making shitty calls in this contest of contests. This we pray to thee on accounta they can really fuck up a football game. You know. You watch the games. Sometimes they even forget the fuckin rules and have to be reminded by the coaches. In any case, they just flipped the coin, so I gotta go, but, seriously Lord... oh, they are gone to commercial. So, while there is a spare moment... WTF were you thinking when you let Chrissy sing the national anthem? She destroyed it. Interpretation on a .... gotta go. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 11 - 05:23 PM Jesus H. Christ! I called 310-3030 and Greco said a 2 square foot, no crust, party pizza with the works would be $29.92 delivered. Add a couple of bucks for a tip and that's 64 cans of Campbell's soup... 128 meals! If I hadn't had those beers, I would have gone to Sobeys and splurged on some soda crackers (on sale for $2 a box... an exellent deal these days) to go with my vegetable soup that is now on the stove. After all, it's Super Bowl 45 for me and going crazy with the crackers is just once a year... and I wouldn't eat them all tonight... although, I do have peanut butter and skim milk... oooo... that would be a decadent snack for the game. I even have Kraft cheese slices. Shoulda got some crackers. Whatta youse snackin on? (I know I asked already.) |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2010 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 11 - 03:38 PM It's gonna be a great game. As I live in NB, I only get to see certain games throughtout the season. I can tell you anything you want to know about the Pats and quite a bit about some other teams. But, watching the pregame stuff... wow... both teams have so many great players. From what I have seen so far, I think the Packers have the edge today, but today is another "any given Sunday". It may come down to what I like best about this game. I've said it many times. Yankee football is as much a game of chess as it is of physical prowess. And the stories of the head coaches is a soap opera in itself. I'll be cheering for The Steelers but all I really want is to watch and exciting game. On accounta I have my Pats hoody on and my football slippers too. (After beer #X, I take the slippers off on accounta I don't need another "old football injury".) |
