Did you bother to read my clickie? Are you now statinh that BLACK people become white when they attend Beck Rallies, in order to make you correct???

I think that the presence of Day Gardner and Alveda King trump YOUR analysis of the picture selected by the Post to back up THEIR viewpoint. I saw video- what evidence do YOU have that they were just whites in blackface, as YOU seem to claim???

The Post propganda, bruce???

What, the same paper that ran every danged thing that the Bush/Cheney war machine wanted them to run during the Mad-dash-to-Iraq on Page One??? The same paper whoes editiorial staff endorsed the Busn invasion??? The same paper that will no longer print any of my letters to them since I blasted them (in letter form) for succumbing to a "culture" (their word, not mine) for falling for the Bush/Cheney lies but refused to answer my simple question of what cahnges they had made to see that it doesn't happen again???

Nah, bruce... You are 100% wrong here... I mean, I looked at every news clip from the rally that I could find broadacst on various news channels and the pic that the Post ran is accurate of what was being put out by all the major networks, Fox included...

Sorry... But you are wrong on this one...

Bobert,

You are being fooled by the WP propaganda. There are videos of the rally, and pictures of people on the stage- and some are black- so YOU are wrong, wherther you recognze it or not.

I'll post more of the article, since you can't bother to read the clickie before stating that what YOU believe MUST be true, even if it contradicts the facts of the matter.

I have a picture from Sharpton's rally- ONLT blacks in it- should I claim that there are no whites who support him?????

"Ron Miller enjoyed the rally with friends from his home state of Maryland.

"I've attended and spoken at several tea party rallies, but Glenn Beck's rally exceeded my expectations," observed Miller. "The others were like pep rallies to fire up the team before it takes the field. Restoring Honor was a revival, calling us to honor those men and women who gave everything they had, including their lives, to defend us. Beck got it right when he asked us to get down on our knees and repent to God for the salvation of our nation."

Miller, a black Christian and author of "Sellout: Musings from Uncle Tom's Porch," told WND he's been outraged by claims reported in the media that the tea parties are racist and that Beck's rally was somehow a slap against Martin Luther King Jr.

"Those naysayers who compare us to the Ku Klux Klan are despicable," Miller said. "By making such a ludicrous comparison, they have revealed themselves to be morally bankrupt, so they no longer warrant a hearing from Americans of good will.

"Americans of many races were given prominence on stage for the world to see," Miller continued. "I was moved to tears by Dave Roever's heartfelt prayer at the end. What a beautiful sacrifice he made, and what a tower of grace he is to stand before us today as a testimony to perseverance, courage and love."

Roever, whom Beck introduced by recounting the Navy veteran's inspiring recovery from a disfiguring injury in Vietnam, led a prayer for the nation. Afterward, he spoke to WND about the enormous gathering.

"I think it's made about 90 percent of the politicians in this city very nervous," Roever said. "Some of them are tremblin' in their offices right now because this is a statement – not only to D.C., but to the whole country – that we're not going to be satisfied with the status quo."

Roever said he wants all politicians – from the president to lawmakers to activist judges – to know that many people are fed up like him:

"There is so much corruption, back scratchin,' deals made," he stressed. "The No. 1 issue bothering me is that they know their time is short, so they ramrod anything through Congress, and it's more difficult to repeal a law than it is to get that law made.

"They're hoping their agenda will survive, but I don't think it will," said Roever. "I've never seen my country like this. I didn't go to Vietnam and get my face blown off, my fingers blown off, my body damaged and wounded beyond repair for what this government's doing right now."

Nah, Bruce... If you examine the photograph on page one on Sunday's Post... BTW, Page one means the front page of the newspaper, there is a photograph oh about 300 (maybe 400) people at the Beck rally next to the Reflecting Pool... With me so far??? I'm not talkin' about some close-up piccure buried in the paper somewhere but the front page...

What I did was took the lower half of that picture because it was alot clearer as to who was whome and vice versa... You with me yet??? You got the printed copy there??? From that core sample of folks in attendence this is where I got my percentages... Okay, I might by off by 2% points but if any college sophmore was asked to repeat the infomal observation that I made then the numbers would be very close...

I mean, this represented the face of the people who attended the Beck ralley... Not some close-up of King's garnd-daughter on back pages or the Sharpton rally...

me thinks you are jus' playing games here... This really ain't rocket sergery here... How many black faces in the picture I completely described above???

Glenn Beck crowd: Not so white as advertised
Many creeds, colors in attendance refute charges of racism against rally

WASHINGTON – Hundreds of thousands of Americans – of many creeds and colors – made what ended up being a pilgrimage of sorts to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., for Glenn Beck's Restoring Honor rally.

Catholics, other Christians and Jews spoke to WND on site, many celebrating the themes of faith and reliance on God proclaimed from the platform.

As WND reported, Beck proclaimed the purpose of the rally, saying, "It has nothing to do with politics; it has everything to do with God."

Beck, the Fox News TV host and a professed Mormon, urged his fellow Americans to live according to the Christian virtues of faith, hope and charity. He asked everyone to enter into 40 days of deep prayer, an obvious plea to imitate Jesus Christ's 40 days of prayer and fasting in the wilderness.

Beck also preached the Christian philosophy that the common good starts with individuals, and therefore, he said, Americans need to begin by examining their souls. "

Wrong rally, bb... I specifially said it was the Beck rally...

How do you know these thing, Q??? Because Beck says so... Or the Tea Party says so??? Why no blacks...

As for obesity??? I belive the percentage of blubber on the front page of Sunday's Washington Posy far outweighs (pun intended) the national average for white men... Hard to find any who ain't got a big ol' beer belly floppin' over the belt...

"Different faiths, different colors

Day Gardner (left) and Alveda King at Restoring Honor rally

The crowd itself included veterans, parents, disabled Americans, people of all ages and – contrary to some criticism leveled against the rally – attendees of many races and ethnicities.

Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union based in Washington, D.C., for example, stood on the platform with Alveda King as she recalled her uncle Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic "I Have a Dream" speech.

Before the multitudes assembled Alveda King proclaimed, "If Uncle Martin could be here today … he would surely remind us that as brothers and sisters, united by one blood in one single race, the human race, we are called to honor God and to love each other."

Praising the entire rally, Gardner exclaimed, "It was phenomenal!

"It felt great to be up there with all these wonderful leaders, the black pro-life leaders from all over the country," Gardner said. "I was extremely proud of my sister in Christ and my dear friend, Dr. Alveda King. … Seeing her walk out where her uncle and her father were 47 years ago – my eyes welled up, and I had a lump in my throat, because we have come a really long way."

The 300,000 (minimum estimate) contained mostly middle class people from all parts of the country, some of whom came at great expense.
They disaprove of current conditions; they will vote against the party in power, but are not wedded to either one.

Obesity is a world problem, not confined to any group.

Listen, itchy... I'm noy discounting the importance of yer post... I think it would make for a good thread... Just doesn't fit here... How about starting another thread on it... It ***is*** important...

Yeah, Neil... Bingo!!!

There are one shitload of disenfrancised people in this country and I find it hypocritical that the infastructure and wealth of the nation was buld mainly on the backs of balck laborers yet it's these crybaby white people who didn't bother to get an education who we now hear crying ***for more***... That's the real deal here...

The conversation we should be having is one about *repair*ations for out African American citizens, who BTW, ancestors have been here a lot longed than most of the crybabies... Yeah, let's take care of little situation... Or at least own up to our history... Then we can get around to the larger issue and that is that everyone in the working class is getting poked in the posterior by Boss Hog & Co...

Glen Ford points out that Obama is Wall Street's guy. That's not good for you, is it, as you try to portray the "wealthy Republicans" as different from the Democrats?

Beck/Palin/Obama are all on the same team. They are all part of the Establishment Party. Everybody knows that now. The divide and conquer stuff is losing its effectiveness.

From The Black Agenda Report, written by Glen Ford (a black man):

We Are Cornered: There's No Way Out Without A Fight

A corporate offensive is rolling down upon us, aimed at wholesale privatization of the public sector. If the Left has learned anything in the last year and a half, it should be that President Obama is Wall Street's guy, having "delivered the highest return on corporate campaign investment in the history of bourgeois democracy." In this struggle, the people will be left to their own devices....

Obama and finance capital began an early, thoroughly vetted, and white hot love affair that was anchored in mutual contempt for those who would challenge the rule of money. He has delivered the highest return on corporate campaign investment in the history of bourgeois democracy, allowing Wall Street to pocket at least $12 trillion in return for contributions of less than $1 million per investment house....

Most devastatingly, Obama and his Democratic legislative allies have successfully shielded their Wall Street masters from anything worthy of the name financial reform. This means finance capital and its "shadow," derivatives-based economy (nominally, ten times bigger than the "real" global economy) remain beyond the reach of meaningful public intervention by conventional methods. With the air knocked out of mainstream reformers' bony chests, Wall Street is poised for a Great Offensive against the political and social infrastructure of the United States....

http://www.blackagendareport.com/?q=content/we-are-cornered-theres-no-way-out-without-fight

I bet even MLK would want to kick Obama's ass.

The point is, however, that I doubt if 80% of Mudcatters are obese and those that are may have metabolic or glanual situation... I doubt seriously if 80% Beck's male supporter/worshipers have those situations... Plus, we're talkin' males here... I understand that womenz after a ceratin age have different metobolisms than their make counterparts and, hey, I like a full figured womenz but...

...80% in males??? No excuse, Buuba... Put down the Budweiser and take up walkin'... Ohter than from yer Camaro to the garndstands at the next NASCAR race... Or to the frig fir another Bud...

Thank you, Becky... It real easy for the Qs of the3 world to try to marginalize the observations I make because they have no interest in dealiong with "non" red meat issues...

BTW, I finally got my printed adition of the Washington Post and was looking at about 300 people at the Beck/Palin rally assembled by the Reflecting Pool and so I kinda did an informal demographic study of the 200 or so that I could see well and here's what I found:

White: 100%

Male: 60%

Female: 40%

Obese Males: 80%

Obese females: 70%

Now, of course, this is not scientific but given it was a sampling I found it to be very telling...

BTW, Obesity costs the US taxpayers billions of dollars a year in medical treatement fro daibetes, heart desease, etc... So these people want their country back??? Waht are they gonna do with it??? Eat it??? (That was a small joke, folks)... But seriously, I have commented on this in the past... Seems the less educated the higher the obseity rates so I figure if 4 outta every 5 males at the Beck rally were obese then, hey, not alot of brain power there...

Q, I'm with you on divisions weakening this country, but when you say "middle-class, conservative Americans, who have built the country", that exemplifies the problem that Bobert is talking about: Bobert's tirade is against middle class, conservative Americans who think that they built America *alone*, and that those who are not part of that group are a threat to "their America".

I'm with Bobert on that.

About the AL Sharpton rallye:

"Let the line stretch. They're already going to say there were only 2,000 or 3,000 of you here," Sharpton said. "If people start heckling, smile at them. This ain't about you, it's about Dr. King."

"Glen Beck, we're going to show you. We ain't going to let Glenn Beck turn us around," one man shouted into a mega phone. The crowd followed him..."

There were 2-3000 following Rev Al and at least 1/4 million listening to Tony LaRussa, Louis Pujols, Sarah Palin, and dozens of others praise the United States, the US Constitution, the American Middle Class and our military personel. Positive all the way.

Sharpton and his little group were calling people names and bragging that "they" had the White House. They were not showing any of unifying spirit of MLK.

Nah, John and Q... I think ya'll both got it wrong...

First of all, we know very well what Glen Beck stands for and the racist things he has said about Obama and the very misguided things he has said about Democrats... These *red meat issues* are what the Kock family and Dick Armie's lobbiest firm have spend miilions, perhaps billions, of dollars using to do "community organizing" to get a pissed of white people out of their trailers and in the streets...

So what we had yesterday is a hundred thousand pissed off white people, who BTW had been told to stay very close to the Jefferson Memorial and not wander off into the city, listening to guy who was probably scared shitless to bring up any *red meat issues* thinking that he had an opportunity to make his Tea Party look less racist, sexist, homophobic, etc. than it really is...

These were not ordinary Americans, BTW... I watched everything I could last night and, other than a couple black speakers and a couple black folks that the media were able to find, this was a rally that was 99.99% white... That is not ordinary America, Q... That is white America...

Now if Glen Beck wants to really "honor" America he'd quit throwing *red meat* to the rednecks who watch his show and start to talk about *real issues* rather than a steady diet of emotional, wedge, sideshow issues that in the big scheme of things aren't the problems that this country needs to deal with...

But as long as he has the mega-corpoate bucks behind him, Beck will continue the SOS...

As far as I am concerned, Beck is a traitor and the enemy of America... Yesterday was one "time out" day... Nuthin' more and nuthin' less...

It's time to stop underestimating the opposition, as I've mentioned on several other threads.

It seems Palin's speech was pitch-perfect for the occasion.   Most important was her description of herself as not a politician but the mother of a veteran.

That will resonate across the whole US.

Mudcatters may enjoy demonizing her, but when you finish that you'd best start to grapple with her appeal--to a huge number of people, it's real.

LA Times: she already has over 2 million followers on Facebook. Probably not all of them are Mudcatters attacking her.

Hasn't the Left learned anything from dealing with Reagan and GWB?

The Beck-Palin ralley was really about dissatisfaction with the state of the country on the part of many Americans. Ordinary, middle of the road Americans.
Some 300,000 to 500,000 of them gathered in Washington.

What was said by Beck and Palin gave them momentary comfort, but neither has a message or program that will cure the problems.

No one has come forward who has the ability to cure the divisive split among Americans or to bring the country back to prosperity.

Americans are falling behind on education, and the drive to succeed, which breed the entrepreneurship needed to keep the country prosperous and an example that others can follow (or equal or surpass, given the large numbers of people in China and India), but not regard with disdain.

Wow!!

All those people standing around the mall talking about God and Patriotism were really racists. Thanks, Bobert. I never would have known.

All the sound bites I heard were all about gratitude for those who have been in the military. But I guess we can't rely on what they say. We have to look in their hearts for the hatred and narrow-mindedness that lurks there.

We sure do live in a mean and ignorant country, I guess. And my neighbors seem so nice. I've been a fool for thinking that other folks are good people, too.

Thanks, again. I might never have known without guidance from the comments here. I might have even thought that the folks on the mall were regular, old, decent people who disagree with us.

Yer right, Strings...

Bring on some good ol' fashioned anarchy... You know, like we saw 5 years today in New Orleans with people scambling thru the littered streets trying to survice another day...

That is Glen Beck's America... That the country that he hasd convinced the Zombie Party that they "want back"...

The saddest part about this is the number of people in this country who have no ability to think for themselves so they relinquish that responsibility to others... In this case, an entertainer... Not someone who understands stuff like, ahhhhhh, public administration... Tell ya' what... Glen Beck is not qualified to be a twon manager of a small rural town... Waht makes him think he can run the entire show??? The man is menatlly ill...

    * He is restoring it for all right-thinking Americans who don't like the way this country is headed down the road to socialism.
    * He is restoring it for all right-thinking Americans who think they have lost control and government is too powerful.
    * He is restoring it for all the right-wing loonies who listen to his show and actually believe the drivel that comes out of his mouth.

Fortunately, this subject didn't come up tho I know she is completely aware of it... Whew!!! The last time she was arrested was just the other end of the mall in front of the Capitol building... That was a fiesko... Several hundred SCLC, along with Rev. Abernathy were arrested in a Saturday protest and this was back when D.C. wasn't quite as accomodating (not that it is today... Google IMF arrests...) and we didn't get her out until Tuesday morin'...

Speakin' of torqued up, my very Republican dad was beyond torqued up and I'm glad he didn't have a gun 'er he would have shot up D.C. General District Court...

Wish I could be there today... Think I'd wander into Beck's ballgame and piss off a couple of his little mindless follower/worshipers...

Gonna be some interesting news, I'm sure, this evening...

The stimulis wasn't ever intended to be dumped into the economy all at once... That would have been a grave error and wastefull... If you recall the initial monet went to "shovel ready" projects where the prelimanary work had been done (engineering, hearings, permots process, etc) but for which because state and local governments were so burdened there werew no funds available to move forward... That is still the case... The money is still flowing into these projects as they become "shovel ready"...

As for Beck, LadyJean??? Consider the source... He is not, shall we say, an enlightened or well educated man... He makes up alot of stuff because his audience, like him, are also not enlightened or well educated and so rather than present actual, ahhhh, facts, these folks just plus in what ever story (mythology) happpens to dovetail nicely with their narrow world views...

That's about it with Beck, Palin and their loyal followers...

Occasionally, I watch Glenn Beck. I always regret it, because I wind up wanting to wring the bastard's neck and he doesn't have one.

Today that baby faced jackass announced that, during the revolutionary war, British troops set fire to American churches, often with the congregation barricaded inside.

It happened in "The Patriot", a Mel Gibson movie, a fun adventure story, that took more than a few liberties with history. It did not really happen.

Beck recently informed viewers that Woodrow Wilson segregated the United States Military. Which is also baloney. He is a veritable cesspool of misinformation. I wish somebody would point out a few of his finer gaffes.

Oh my gosh, you are correct!...I read the wrong allotment. @40 was for something else...the total was:

The measures are nominally worth $787 billion. The Act includes federal tax cuts, expansion of unemployment benefits and other social welfare provisions, and domestic spending in education, health care, and infrastructure, including the energy sector. The Act also includes numerous non-economic recovery related items that were either part of longer-term plans (e.g. a study of the effectiveness of medical treatments) or desired by Congress (e.g. a limitation on executive compensation in federally aided banks added by Senator Dodd and Rep. Frank).

No Republicans in the House and only three Republican Senators voted for the bill.[2][3][4] The bill was signed into law on February 17 by President Obama at an economic forum he was hosting in Denver, Colorado.[5]

As of the end of August 2009, 19 percent of the stimulus had been outlaid or gone to American taxpayers or business in the form of tax reductions.[6]

WHICH IS EVEN MORE OF AN EMBARRASSMENT!!!!!!!

SEEING ANY JOBS FOR THAT KIND OF MONEY???????????????????????

The problem, kat, is that the Dems have adopted Mohammed Ali's "Rope-A-Dope" strategy... If they are going to get any microphone time from the right winged media then they are going to have push 10 times harder than the Repubs for that 30 second clip on the evening news... I mean, think about it... John beohner is one the nesws almost every night blasting away and the Dems aren't pushing hard enought o country his outright lies... That's on the Dems for over-estimating the media...

Yo, GFinS,

Your figures are as bogus as your "both sides" mythology... Where ever you got them they are so far off that it's laughable... Maybe you need a 2nd opinion before making such bogus claims...

And, if they can, the GOP will make damned sure it doesn't get spent, just so they can point more fingers. What they forget is when they point a finger at President Obama, four fingers are pointing back at themselves.

Not only that, of the $240 BILLION passed in the stimulus(?), $172 BILLION is just sitting dormant, and NOT being spent on creating jobs!... for what it was intended for....Who's Obama going to blame for that??...Bush??

As far as I am concerned, this is one of the smartest things I've seen come out to try to make a difference in the spread of faux news by Faux News:

From: James Rucker, ColorOfChange.org
Subject: Glenn Beck vs. Dr. King?

A year ago, Glenn Beck called the president a racist who had a deep-seated hatred for white people.1 In just over a week, he says he will "reclaim"2 the legacy of the civil rights movement by holding his "Restoring Honor" rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.—on the same day and place as Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.3

You can get mad at Beck. You can protest and try to prevent him from stepping on Dr. King's honor for one day. The reality is that the next day—and five days a week from there on out—Beck will be back on Fox News, speaking to millions and spreading hate, lies, and fear, as he does every week.

The real problem is Fox News. Fox News gives Beck his platform, and Fox promotes his events—all despite Beck losing virtually all of his major advertisers in the last year.

Fox's rhetoric is not just divisive; it's dangerous. Last month, a heavily armed man got into a gunfight with police after he was pulled over on his way to kill people at the Tides Foundation4—a non-profit that was little known until Glenn Beck repeatedly demonized it, claiming it to be the center of a great conspiracy.5 Last year, Kansas doctor George Tiller was gunned down while at church6 after Bill O'Reilly called him a Nazi, a "baby killer," and warned of "Judgment Day."7

It's why today we're launching TurnOffFox, and we hope you'll join us. TurnOffFox is the first step in our overall effort to beat back the poison, hate, and division of Fox. We'll get Fox turned off in stores, restaurants, and other public places—places where Fox pulls in new viewers and gains legitimacy. But we need your help.

Click below to declare your household "Fox free" and at the same time call on establishments in your community (and across the country) to follow your lead and turn off Fox. Armed with thousands of signatures, ColorOfChange members will visit businesses in their communities that play Fox, explain how divisive and dangerous it is, and call on them to stop. And we'll give you a FREE Turn Off Fox sticker when you do—it takes just a moment:

http://www.moveon.org/r?r=90115&id=22941-8293565-fRameYx&t=2

Some people watch Fox at home because it reflects their view of the world; but there are others who see it on TV in public places and assume that it's legitimate news. Fox News is often on in bars, restaurants, airport lounges, stores—appearing to be real news, while spreading lies and fomenting hate and division.

The goal of Turn Off Fox is to reduce the number of public TVs showing Fox News, while spreading the word about Fox's poison (and how it works) to those who don't know.

Signing up for the campaign is just the first step. We make it easy for you to tell us about businesses playing Fox. If you're willing to talk with them, we'll provide you with straightforward materials that explain why they shouldn't be a party to what Fox is doing. And if there are businesses you know that want to tell the world they would never play Fox, you can help them declare themselves a "Fox-free zone."

As businesses Turn off Fox and stand up as Fox Free, and as we encourage our friends and family to do the same, we'll help make clear, to people across the country, what Fox is about. And we'll reduce their ability to do harm.

Click the link below to join us and our partners at Truthout.com in standing up to Fox, and we'll give you a free TurnOffFox sticker. And then please ask your friends and family to do the same:

http://www.moveon.org/r?r=90115&id=22941-8293565-fRameYx&t=3

Thanks and Peace,

How can you help but HEAR the right wing, GfinS??? They own just about the entire media... So that is a bogus response...

Here's the kind of stuff that isn't going to produce one job but seem to be all the corporate media wants to talk about:

1. 31% of Americans think Obama is a Muslim... Jobs created : Zero

2. We don't want no stenkin' Mosque two blocks from Ground Zero... Jobs created: Zero... Jobs lost: Lots...

3. The 24/7 Beck/Palin Show: Jobs created: Zero

4. The Daily John Beonher Show: Jobs created: Zero

5. The Oil Is all Gone in the Gulf: Jobs created: Zero, Jobs lost: lots...

I mean, lets get real here... The largest problem in the US isn't a mosque, or the propagating of various and sundry Repub lies and side shows::: It's the economy, stupid... Yet, the media harps on how bad it is every night but fails conviently to allow any airtime on the various Obama administration efforts to deal with it... Right now the obstructionist Repubs won't allow a $30B bill into the Senate that will provide laons for small businesses... Yet we get John Boenher every night on the corporate propaganda machine using lies like "job killing" this ot that... Every night... But not one word from the media on the loan legislation... We get John Beonher every night talking about Obama wanting to raise taxes that will burt small business but never any investigative jounranlism on just how many small businessmen make over $250,000 a year???

Ya' see, the corporate media is very much into the sidewhow and subterfuge business these days... Lie loud enough and often enough on the right and it makes the headlines... The truth??? Forget it... Not going there... Does not serve the corporatist agenda!!!

But no GfinS thinks I oughta spend even more time "listening" to the "other side"... Sheet fire, that's all that is being blared at us like a blow torch!!!

Riding herd on school districts and attitudes like that is like a huge game of "Whack-a-Mole". You think you've got them clued in about illegal discrimination, and next year, it's something else. When the 'community mindset' is determined to favor one group, they will constantly try new ways.

Doctor King would have seen in Senator Byrd the goodness... He would have seen in him a man who had starred down his own demons... In otherwords: a man... Not a child like Beck who only thinks of his own wants and desires and opinions and prejudices... Beck is not a man... He is a spoiled child prone to temper tantrums... Senator Bryd had more moral fiber, more caring and more selflessness in his fingernail clippings than Beck could ever wish for...

Once again... Shame on you GfS, which until you get off yer right winged hobby horse, I will just have to call it like it is and rename you GfinS...

Anyone who can't see that Glenn Beck holding a rally at the Lincoln Memorial on the anniversary of Rev. Kings historic speech, for the expressed purpose of "restoring the true meaning of the civil rights movement", is the most profound insult to the memory of a fallen leader, to the legacy of civil rights, to the ideal of non-violent activism, has there head firmly planted in ... the sand. Just remember that if your head in the sand which part of you you're showing to the world.
