Subject: BS: Strange fruit at Whitby festival
From: Mo the caller
Date: 29 Aug 10 - 09:20 AM

Holiday makers may have wondered why there were coconuts on the beach last Friday.
A member of our dance workshop at the festival entertained us each morning by writing the praises of a caller or musician in the sand.
For the final morning it was the praise of a dance 'Rosa' which starts with palms to your partners. He wrote/depicted the quote from Romeo and Juliet 'Palm to palm is holy palmer's kiss'. One of the palms was represented by a palm tree complete with cocnuts as a gift to random holiday makers.
By 1pm half of them had gone, I wonder how many people saw the others and didn't take them (never take sweets from strangers). And if they were still there when the tide came in, where would they have washed up? That might give the oceanographers something to ponder about.

Better coconuts than right feet, I guess, eh?

Can I just say that I'm really, really (REALLY!) glad that it had nothing to do with Billie Holliday's "Strange Fruit"?

Mrrzy, what does the DBE stand for? And why right feet?
Desert Dancer, we may get slightly annoyed with other dancers and callers but not often, and not that much.

So it wasn't Global Warming affecting the beachcombers haul then :)

Divert it if you want to. let it drift with the tide.
I was expecting Raggy to tell me where the coconuts would drift to but maybe he doesn't come down here.
