I love this clip. It shows what happened when a loudmouth picked a fight with the bouncer at a Berlin disco, unaware that he was insulting a five time world kick boxing champion. I think the boxer gave him an exemplary lesson in good manners and self-control.

Idiot learns some manners.

The bouncer acted with not only class but with full understanding that having martial arts skills and using them are two different things... Good job...

The way these things should be handled: talking them down instead of knocking them out. I wish there were more confrontations like this.

As a side note, a year or so ago a local bouncer named Redeagle (a Lakota) talked a guy down and expelled him from a local bar. Redeagle was found outside later, beaten to death with a tire iron. He was well liked and well respected in the community, and the search for his murderer continues.

Oh, it would be better for the murderer of Redeagle if the police catch him first. Redeagle left three kids.

At uni, I was lead on many occasions. I would simply say sommat like, "Sir/Gentlemen, you have a choice. You can take it outside or you can face the fifteen men on security duty who are within 100 feet of you. Your call and you have ten seconds to decide before I raise my hand. If I raise my hand you are not meeting the police out front... you are going out the rear door."

It only failed once. The guy was so drunk that he fell when he swung. We tied him up and the cops appreciated it when they arrived.

The soft answer that turneth away wrath..........

By putting the fear of impending death into the loudmouthed little twerp.

Great. A model of firm, calm, self control, and job done without violence.

Yeah, Rap... I totally agree...

When I learned martial arts we were taught to use our heads first, second and third...

My sansi taught us that if we could run from a fight to do so...

It is amazing, knowing how to take someone apart in three seconds, does tend to create a calming effect on would-be belligerents. It is also wonderful to know that having that confidence is a deterent and a guard against actually having to use it. I learned Tang Soo Do so I would know how NOT to kill somebody if push came to shove (that is, to counter what I got in the military).

Re Mr. Redeagle, it is always good to have a couple of alternate plans and a buddy or two to back you up. Most clubs have several bouncers/security and a way to monitor their vehicles. They write up any incidents and standard anymore is the ubiquitous video. Any beef that involves a criminal occurence gets reported to the local authorities. The last one is kind of iffy because the clubs don't want the rep of being a troubled place, however, you don't want someone unbalanced stalking your help.

Can't find my favorite "learning manners" video. It shows a mother filming two kids skateboarding. In the background is a car at a stop sign waiting for a decrepit old lady to cross. She meanders past the car and the driver loudly hits his horn scaring her into a jump. She turns and whacks his car with her shopping bag setting off his air bag. Hilarious. She meanders on and he staggers out of his car dumbfounded while the kids laugh at him.Never underestimate the power of angry old women.

I like that clip a lot too. Unfortunately, had it happened here, the woman would almost certainly have been fined and made to pay damages to the hooligan in the car. That is in spite of the fact that most police officers, whom I have met, would have been tempted to cuff him around the ear as well.
Readeagle's murderer sounds like a coward of the lowest degree. He will not live out a happy life.
Going back to the clip, I am sure that not every incident finishes up as satisfactorily as this one. However, it is good to know that there are good men out there, trying to make the very best of a bad situation. I liked Michael Kuhl (the bouncer) in this clip, because the way he held himself gave a salutory example to the young fool of how he might improve his own behaviour.

I have noticed that eye contact is especially troublesome to troublemakers. You're telling them that you don't care if they're the Second Coming of Christ, make trouble and you're hash. Of course, you also have to have the skills to back it up should the aggressor decide to aggress anyway.

One time I was walking back to my dorm in college late at night. A couple of guys came by in an old car yelling obscene things at the hippie college kid ... Then they pulled next to me and told me they were going to "beat the hell out of me" ... about a second after he opened his door, I crushed the door like a beer can with a side kick.
They drove away ... for some reason they didn't want to get out ..

Manners can be a painful thing sometimes.

I am minded of a movie... The Devil's Brigade... wherein a smallish, polite hand-to-hand expert gives a similar lesson to a rather large, impolite brute in a mess. Quite well done but it is physical.

One does not have to get all hot and sweaty when one knows what one is doing. A real fight is over in seconds and only one walks away, probably uninjured, if they know what they are doing.

I'm reminded again of an incident that happened in South Bend, Indiana some years back.

A lady in her eighties was stopped for a light. A big, burly thug walked up to her car, tried to open the door, leaned in the window and said, "Get out. I'm taking your car."

She ground out her cigarette on the back of his hand. Naturally, he screamed and let go. She drove herself to the police station and turned herself in; she was so afraid she'd hurt him. The cops, who found him in the emergency room, assured her that everything was okay.

And there was the rapist, back in my college days, who was found by the police in the emergency room, holding his testicles. His last attempt had resulted in the "victim" ripping them off. He was still tried, convicted, and sent off to the Graybar Hotel. Adrenaline can help you do mighty things.

Yes Rapaire, I agree! My "Auntie Winnie" (Not really a blood relation - It was a Lancashire thing)was in her late 70s and rather small. She ran a shop in Rochdale and was on her way home one night when a man grabbed her and demanded her takings. She picked him up and threw him over the wall onto Oldham Road!

A good friend of mine in college had a man break into her apartment. She cried out, "What do you want?" He leered, "What do you think I want?" Her brain then kicked in and she said, "I don't know, how about a beer?" He accepted it, started drinking, started talking; she listened, walked him to the door, and locked it after him before calling the police.

Richard, the twerp is scared of his brother because the brother is a kickboxer himself. The twerp is even more scared when he realizes that the guy he's facing is his brother's trainer.

I have had a number of encounters with creeps. Thankfully I never hurt anyone bad even though I had just cause to do so I was able to handle it pretty quick. One other time involved a very big guy at a bar. I had just finished playing and unloading equipment when I was coming down a large flight of stairs .. At that time I was about 150 lbs. I was also one of only a handful of people in the US that was a master of Kuntao. (something I will never teach anyone again even special forces) So the guy starts calling me every name in the book. I tried and tried to talk to him. I told him I did not want trouble that I did not want to fight a big tough guy like him yada yada.
Nothing worked .. everything was ok until he grabbed me and tried to throw me down the steps. I hit him with a palm heel strike .. his lights when out . I actually just tapped him but his jaw got broken. After he got out of the hospital he tried to have me arrested for excessive force .. that went nowhere as I could have legally done a lot worse. Later on he apologized to me personally ... I still feel bad that I had to hurt him. One other time I disarmed a guy with a knife. He was drunk going after another guy and I knew he didn't know what he was doing. Noone got hurt but he got jail.

I do not miss playing in such places.

I was on my way into my old apartment building one night, when a man told me there was somebody breaking into a car on one of the side streets.
I kept a police whistle on my keychain in those days. I walked up the street toward where the theft was happening, blowing that whistle.

Quite a few of my neighbors came out, intent on taking the whistle out of my mouth and sticking it in some other orifice. I told each of them there was a car theft going on. They all headed toward the side street. The car thief took off for parts unknown, having had a blow job he will never forget.

And then there was Curtescine Loyd. A man broke into her house and tried to rape her. He took his pants off, and as she said later, "I grabbed it and I twisted. Then I grabbed those other things and twisted them the other way."

She then insisted that he let himself out the front door. He did, and crawled off down the street, leaving his pants, with his name in them, behind.
Ms Loyd called the police. The had no trouble finding the man who'd tried to rape her. He was arrested, and tried. The jury was out for 10 minutes, before they came back with the verdict. It has been suggested that they used the time for a restroom break. Laughing a lot does that to you.
