Must have been done before and not fond of the devices but I have one and it (if on loud - prefer silent/vibration) plays some tune (played by me) I don't have title for. Others on thiers?

When I had one for my business I had The William Tell Overature and would often sing along depending on the immediate company...

To the bank, to the bank, to the bank, bank, bank...

I have the following on my phone

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_oMD6-6q5Y

I let it play when people call me. I am sure people look and think "Why is that old fart having that song for his phone" :-)

Well I am 65

I just find the closest sound to an old phone ring that they offer.

I would LOVE to have the sound of an actual telephone ringing.

I know someone who's got just that, Rap, I'll ask where it came from.

I have different songs assigned to different people in my contacts list. That way I can decide immediately if I need to dig through my bag to find my phone.

You can assign different ring tones to different callers now? Unreal.

I gave up my cell after I had a partial parotidectomy to remove a tumour and my cousin nearly died from an orange sized tumour at the base of his brain... a truck driver who spent HOURS on his cell.

His problem was consulted on by doc Mike Gruber of New Jersey (I believe he works at the NYC School of Medicine but I do not know for sure... long story) who said cell phones cause cancer but the studies haven't proven it yet. I know this is a bone of contention, but I gave mine up after a long operation with a tough recovery and seeing my cousin almost die. If it hadn't been for Mike specifying a particular chemo from Switzerland my cuz would have probably been a goner.

Your cell phone minutes may vary.

Considering the amount of electromagnetic radiation that zaps through us every day -- from sunshine to radio waves to microwaves from communication towers to the wayward offspring of the electrical wiring in our homes and offices -- I am not worried about a bit more from my cell phone.

These days I've been forgetting to turn it on until after noon anyway...and besides, nobody ever calls me because nobody loves me and everybody hates me. And as I said, recently I've taken to no even turning it on.

I wondered why so many people seemed to have their ringtones set to emulate S.O.S. in Morse. (...---...)

'Til I listened more closely & realises it's S.M.S. ( ...--...) which is the abbreviation for Short Messaging Service (Text!)

Cheers
Nigel

I never realised before but I do tend to make mental judgements on the choice of people's ringtones, I know I shouldn't.

Which would that be Bill?

I do remember old electro mechanical bells but at the moment am picturing some late 60s/early 70s in the UK "Trimtone"

Its "beep beep" is ringing out "BillD, BillD....BillD,BillD"

(Only joking of course but the picture was there for a second)

A friend of mine has a large steam loco thrashing away from a station as his ringtone. This, as can be imagined, causes chaos when he's at his part time job driving old dears to Chelsea Flower Show etc. "What's that noise Mildred?"

Mind you he got his comeuppance. It went off at Royal Ascot while he was attempting to shepherd 20 very refreshed Barbara Windsors onto his coach! They didn't half take the p*ss.....

I have the old fashioned BBRIIIINNNGGGGGGGGG on mine.

"I would LOVE to have the sound of an actual telephone ringing".

Sorry, that does not exist anymore.
Your only option is a synthesized sound of an actual telephone ringing.

My neighbours son has the sound of a lost kitten on his cell. It's most annoying. And, possibly moreso for cats.

Jeepers, BillD, there are bunches of them on youtube..take yer pick:

HERE, or HERE. And, if those don't got back far enough for you...try THIS ONE.

I don't pay for any extras on my phone, so just have one of the tones which it came with, but when I had an answering machine I could control, i.e. record a whole message, I had a tune, written and producing by Jeri, called "katlaughing!"

Think fingers were working for that short clip, kat wish I could have had the ability to put longer pieces together.

Right now, they don't - same sort of channel as before - web site gets hacked, dvd drive collapses, amp breaks, dad irrationally blazes at a box delivered containg some curry he enjoys (these are nicce. I just detoxed in hospital drink again. OT but tonight am not sure if I will ever play again.

Anyway have gone right OT but atm am feeling desperate.

Lighten me up with another ring tone.
