Is there a way to bring a Microsoft Word file over to a Mudcat thread?

I can do it with "copy" and "paste," but you do have to put all those HTML doo-hickies in the original if you want such niceties as line breaks. How I wish 'tweren't so.

yes - cut Word tex, and paste into the Mudcat edit box. If you add the HTML commands aftewards, you may find it easier.

You might find using your borwser's "View Source" function is quite useful for picking up tips on HTML commands; new line, italics, bold etc.

Cutting and pasting work jes' fine. You can take care of the line breaks very simply: use a carriage return (Enter key) at the end of every line you type. Then use Replace All to change the paragraph signs (use ^p) to ^p followed by {BR}, only with angle brackets instead of curly brackets.

Then cut and paste.

lloyd, I think what Dick meant to say was that you use "replace all" to change all the paragraph marks ^p to a paragraph mark PLUS a line break sign - like this:

^p<br>

The "Replace" function in recent versions of Word has a button for choosing special characters like that paragraph mark. You'd put the paragraph mark in both the find and replace boxes, with the addition of a line break <br> in the "replace with" box. It's easier to do than it is to explain, but I hope you understand.

Lloyd, you can save the Word file as HTML (save as, then go to "save as type" and select "HTML Document."

You can double-click on the document saved as HTML to make sure it will look OK.

Then go to Notepad, Click on "File," then "Open." Go to the "files of type" box and select "All Files (*.*)" Find your file and copy and paste into the "Submit Message" box.
