Subject: Sapiest Love Song in Yer Repotoire??? From: Bobert Date: 17 Jan 11 - 07:29 PM Well??? Okay, I hate to admit it but there's a song I first heard when I was like 13 or 12 by Kathy Young entitled "A Thousand Stars" and it is 110% sap but I learned it along time ago and still pull it out now and then depending on the audience... There... I showed ya' mine so now time fir ya'll to 'fess up... If anyone says they do Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey" they will get extra points... Yuck!!! B~ |

While traveling in the middle of the night the other night listening to xm, "Honey" came on the radio. Now that's my favorite all time sappiest. Holy crap, who thought that was a good idea for a song? While on tour in Tucson this fall I met the woman who inspired "MacArthur Park." I was telling my road manager about her . . . when "MacArthur Park" came on the radio. How spooky is that? We were driving from Rhode Island to Westchester County in a Prius with a slammin' sound system and cranked it WAY up. Bliss. I don't think I should tell you her name, but she is now married to the cousin of one of the most famous singers to ever come out of Tucson. And she is still a real beauty. I asked her what the sweet green icing was about and the cake in the rain -- she didn't really understand those lines, either. But it sure was fun to meet her and talk about that song. |

Where else could you find a song that not only has Richard Harris putting his heart and soul into lyrics like "someone left the cake out in the rain", accompanied by the marshalled forces of the London Symphony Orchestra, spliced into a mid-song psychedelic-pop instrumental romp, and ending with two or three false codas that finally result in Richard being acoustically morphed into Minnie Ripperton on an end note that only German Shepherds can hear?
