slices of sour dough baguette with guacamole
coffee made in a makeshift thermos drip arrangement--
my coffee pot got left behind the other day.
(at the hospital where i was called in a hurry because my daughter
was in emergency surgery for C-Section)

For a change to the above, sometimes I have half wheat/half rice flakes with soya, a conference pear, Darjeeling tea (which I once took in situ!), or an orange juice/soya mix.

I remember, many many years ago, when there was still food rationing, we had some strange-tasting white butter that came in a tin, and that I was told came from Australia. I also remember having weetabix that didn't taste quite the same as weetabix - in fact it was nicer, and I can still remember the taste. Maybe that came from Australia too. Maybe it was weetbix.

Weetbix - the genuine stuff from Oz which I sent over here. The box is nearly empty, so soon I'll have to start having Weetabix, which is the UK's imitation one - not much different in taste, but not quite as good - naturally!

Followed that with a cup of tea and a nice piece of raisin toast with lots of butter. Yum!

The tea also comes from Oz, and we're fast running out of that. There is a chain of tea places there called T2. They have a huge range of interesting teas. We usually drink decaffeinated, and we discovered one there which is called Daintree tea. It is naturally low in caffeine - actually lower than your normal decaffeinated tea, and has a lovely flavour. We make a pot of that first thing every morning. There's no equivalent here that I've found, so I suppose I'll have to get my son or daughter or someone in Sydney to send us some more - or wait till we visit in 2112.

In our house we have a similar back up coffee stash. We call it "rat shit coffee". :)

One egg (over easy), 1 slice of homemade (well made in the bread machine) whole wheat toast, lightly buttered, several cups of coffee with 2% milk. Later on I'll have an apple. I'm getting some great breakfast ideas from this thread!

{{{{Janie}}} you puir thing...

every morning: 8 ounces cold almond milk, a cup or so of frozen, unsweetened blueberries, other frozen berries, usually rasp and black, 1/4 banana whirled together into a smoothie with a piece of Ezekiel raisin toast on the side

Sometimes I have the same for supper...it is so tasty and filling. Tonight, I had something Dorothy mentioned in another thread...it sounded so good...black beans warmed up over which I melted some cheese, then shredded lettuce and a tomato sliced up. It was delicious!

No, I did not have chortle for breakfast.

Coffee.

Eventually.

With canned milk. Because I kept forgetting to buy half-and-half.

Eventually, because I also kept forgetting to buy coffee beans.

Have a stash of stale Folger's ground coffee bought at the local convenience store sometime or other when I realized I was out of coffee at 11:00 pm. Had been making do with it for a couple of days. This morning, I poured water into the coffee maker, pulled out the basket to add the Folger's, opened the lid on the coffee grinder and scooped the ground coffee into there, slipped the empty coffee basket back over the pot, and made myself a full pot of hot water.

Being as how I also kept forgetting to buy dish soap, once I finally succeeded in making a pot of stale coffee, I realized there was not a clean coffee cup in the house. Good thing I have heavy, thick-walled glasses.

Rough morning.

6 days a week I have half a cup of home made museli (commercial museli + puffed brown rice + bran + more oats + rice flakes + oat bran + rye flakes + sultanas, makes many jars & lasts a along time!), spoonfull of mixed linseeds & sunflower seeds, sliced banana with rice milk & spoonful of Omega-3 oil.
I hard boiled egg + spoonful of baked beans. Assorted vitamins & minerals washed down with water & lemon juice.

On Sunday I have brunch of 2 slices of toasty cheese with egg fried in non-stick pan on top, mushrooms all over, very large banana smoothie (1 banana + 1 small tub of yoghurt, 3 tubs of water & lots of skim milk powder, maybe cinnamon). Smoothie can last most of the day. (ps. Next meal is late at night & for the past few weeks has been from the local Thai shop.)

Seeing it was Friday, I had a Morrison's Big Breakfast (two fried eggs, three middle rashers, one sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, two hash browns and half a slice of fried bread) with black pudding and no toast washed down with capucchino, and it was even still morning (when I started). I won't mention the two mugs of coffee in the shower.

:) I like sardines. I also like smoked salmon, especially the heat smoked type. There are few fish that I don't like, or would not consider eating for breakfast.

The canned sardines were "in spring water" not in "olive oil", not that there is anyhing wrong with olive oil. I just like the young herring taste better, versus the overpowering olive oil taste.

Two days ago I fried up the meat from two lobsters, in butter. I made a sandwitch with mao. Frying the lobster created an entirely different flavour. A few weeks ago, I made a clam chowder for breakfast...it was very good.

$4.19 a tin now for the Hereford tins from Brazil! Glad I bought 48 tins at 99p a while back. Great for a quick hash or sandwiches. Very aromatic.

OH! I remember! Two heaping spoonfuls of cottage cheese and a blood pressure pill washed down with skim milk. The brekky of champignons!

I have a question. I`m saying that because I don`t know how to make a question mark on a French keyboard. This is a kinda persol question for the good folk here. Does anyone else get a strange odor in their urine when they eat corned beef (qm). Every time I eat corned beef my pee smells like Fray Bentos. It`s not something I worry about, but it does make me wonder.
