Subject: BS: I wanna job like theirs... From: saulgoldie Date: 08 Feb 11 - 06:14 PM Lessee...Congress starts...First up, pass a meaningless bill that will ultimately be vetoed if passed by the Senate to repeal the Obama health care reforms (not that it was ever all that good after being thoroughly watered down)...Play golf...play some more golf...Leisurely saunter back to "the office" and...attempt to redefine rape so that a couple of hundred women may no longer seek abortions that the government already does not pay for...take another two weeks off for reflection...pass another law to repeal health care reforms...maintain silence on anything that smacks remotely of genuine job creation and try to destroy anything that does...take another two weeks off to reflect and bask in the glory of my recent "accomplishments"... Must be nice. What do Congressional representatives get? $200K a year? Sheesh! I had to go in to work today, and actually DO SOME WORK, and I have had less than half the sleep a body needs for the last, at least a week. Ahh, what a life it must be! Mr Boehner, WHERE ARE THE JOBS?!! Saul |

Subject: RE: BS: I wanna job like his/hers... From: Bill D Date: 08 Feb 11 - 07:39 PM I sense that because the Republican controlled House has little hope of passing any wholesale change, they seem to feel that doing nothing will allow them to eventually bluster that "Obama's term didn't accomplish much". Trouble is, the House MUST initiate any fiscal bills....and some things must be done. |

Subject: RE: BS: I wanna job like his/hers... From: Bobert Date: 08 Feb 11 - 07:44 PM Yer right, Saul... The Washington Post had an article today about the number of votes in the house... Like 1/3rd the number that were cast by this date last year... Senate??? Same thing... I mean, not that number of votes is the only standard but, yeah, being a Congressman or woman ain't gonna work ya' too hard... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: I wanna job like his/hers... From: JohnInKansas Date: 08 Feb 11 - 08:08 PM My observation is that it must be very hard work since sucking up to the Party contributors while ignoring the rest of the nation takes a whole lot of concentration on what's really important to the Party. I'm told that you can learn to like the taste of anything you eat enough of, so it might not really be all that bad being a devoted 'publican, once you've gotten used to it. One must feel a bit sorry for the "newbies" in Congress, but they probably get enough sauce to cover the taste until they get used to it. John |

Subject: RE: BS: I wanna job like his/hers... From: Jim Dixon Date: 09 Feb 11 - 01:24 PM Believe it or not, there are people out there who believe that virtually everything the government does is evil, and therefore, the less they do, the better. I have a brother-in-law who actually said that it's a good thing when the president belongs to one party and the other party controls Congress (but not with enough of a majority to override a veto)--because less gets done that way. I guess you'd call that a conservative point of view, but I've never heard a Republican politician say that it's a good thing to have a few Democrats around (or vice versa). |
