Subject: BS: I'll miss my friend From: GUEST,Pseudolus at work Date: 25 Feb 11 - 03:14 PM Several years ago a friend of mine and I met at a bar where I was playing. I invited him to stop by my church where I had been playing contemporary Christian music every Saturday night. I didn't know my friend was an alcoholic. He eventually came to church and was inspired in a big way by the message that night. He cleaned up, got sober, and on more than one occasion credited me with saving his life. He said without that invite he was sure he would have been dead in less than a year. I just wanted him to hear me play the drums but it was kind of a rush to hear him say that I was a part of what saved him. My friend struggled over the years but for the most part did great. Last night he lost control of his car and hit a pole and died. There is no info at this point about whether there was alcohol involved...but I hope not. It shouldn't matter because he is still gone. My friend loved his family, he loved his friends and he loved God. Whatever happened, alcohol or no alcohol, I will miss him. I wish I could have saved him this time...because his was a life worth saving. I miss you my friend.... Frank |

Subject: RE: BS: I'll miss my friend From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 25 Feb 11 - 03:32 PM Big hugs, Frank. He wasn't to be saved, simply had lived the life he was supposed to, for the time he was supposed to. You added greatly to that life for him, and him for you. Keep his Spirit always in your heart and you'll be just fine. x |

Subject: RE: BS: I'll miss my friend From: gnu Date: 25 Feb 11 - 09:13 PM Gosh... the ladies on this thread have had "the words". Unfortunately, I can only read them and offer my endorsements. I feel inept and at a loss. But, I am a rather stunned guy so all I can say is ditto and I wish I had such words. I only see there was good in your heart and in your actions and that your friend was helped. Take care. |

My best friend , my brother as I saw it one night drove his car into the side of my house. He misses a turn and rolled it into the side of my house. I ran out after I heard the crash .. he died in my arms as I was holding him after he was thrown through the windshield ... I understand that kind of pain. I was 20 years old at the time. I am so sorry .. so very sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers Dan |

Subject: RE: BS: I'll miss my friend From: katlaughing Date: 25 Feb 11 - 10:22 PM You gave him what he needed and he was able to learn a bit and do better from your help and example. Good friends can do that and it sometimes brings a contentment mixed in with any sadness which comes along. My condolences on your loss, Frank. kat |

Subject: RE: BS: I'll miss my friend From: LilyFestre Date: 25 Feb 11 - 11:02 PM There are some people who are taken far too soon. Your friend sounds like one of those people. I lost my best friend when he was 31 years old...it was way too early. It's now 12 years later and I can't think of a day that has passed that he still isn't in my thoughts. Sometimes the universe sends out little twinklings of my friend.......I bet you'll have that too. I don't think love ever ends or separates us from one another (friend, family, spouse). I'm so sorry for your loss Frank. (((((((((((Love to you)))))))))))))) Michelle |

Subject: RE: BS: I'll miss my friend From: Dorothy Parshall Date: 26 Feb 11 - 06:10 PM The physical loss is hard but those who love beyond death cannot be separated by it. They live in our hearts for always. We still commune with them. They are still an important part of our lives. |

Sometimes stuff bad happens to good people that we don't understand and, IMHO, nor does God Himself... I am so sorry for your loss... B~ |
