Subject: BS: Obama Returns to his moral vision From: Stringsinger Date: 22 Apr 11 - 06:27 PM Some of you, myself included, have found disappointment in the way things have been going in Washington under Obama but his speech is so important. George Lakoff tells us why. It would be good to find a text of this speech and read it. It defines who we are as Americans. http://www.alternet.org/news/150645/obama_returns_to_his_moral_vision%3A_democrats_read_carefully%21 |

Subject: RE: BS: Obama Returns to his moral vision From: Bobert Date: 22 Apr 11 - 07:23 PM I donno... He got the Affordable Care Act thru which rivals Medicare when it was passed... He got a $700 stimulis thru... He ended Don't-ask-don't-tell... I mean, he has gotten a lot done... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Obama Returns to his moral vision From: michaelr Date: 22 Apr 11 - 09:50 PM Sorry, Bobert, I don't see those as great achievements. He took universal care off the table without even discussing it. The "stimulus" was a huge giveaway of our money to Boss Hog who didn't deserve it. You heard about their profits and bonuses? Bigger than ever. I'll give him Don't-ask-don't-tell. But what he's done most is cave in, it looks to me. |

Subject: RE: BS: Obama Returns to his moral vision From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Apr 11 - 11:41 AM Good link, Kat! What Obama has done is try to set a good example by playing fair, by the rules. The GOP is still playing by Cheney's rules. That's the trouble. The gloves need to come off. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Obama Returns to his moral vision From: akenaton Date: 23 Apr 11 - 12:59 PM Slaughtering people in Libya by authorising the use of military "drones"......he just loves those things doesn't he? I was beginning to warm to him with his personal stance on Homosexual marriage, but "drone warfare" is poison as far as I am concerned.....how can it possibly defensive? He is allowing himself to be pushed and bullied by friends and foes alike.....he needs to grow some balls or get out. |

Subject: RE: BS: Obama Returns to his moral vision From: artbrooks Date: 23 Apr 11 - 03:55 PM There is no doubt that the operators of Predator drones can make - and have made - mistakes. That is true of any weapons system, including the M-1 club. On the other hand, its ability to cruise at less than a 100 miles an hour while the operator identifies his target with a telescopic lens and laser-designates it for the onboard missiles certainly gives it greater accuracy than that of an attack jet that is moving ten times as fast. |
