Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: katlaughing Date: 16 Jul 11 - 03:41 PM Yes, autolycus, that is true for all of us while Max works on things. Glad you found the thread you were looking for. kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: autolycus Date: 16 Jul 11 - 02:56 PM Actually 'Disabled until further notice,' |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: autolycus Date: 16 Jul 11 - 02:55 PM Thanks everyone. I did what kat said but didn't get wghat i was looking for when I typed 'obit', the only bit I could remember. Icouldn't remember 'not so famous'. Thanks for the link, Jim. Normally I can do that myself but, as I said, when I click on Personal page, lately it keeps saying 'Disabled' |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: Bill D Date: 16 Jul 11 - 02:36 PM Not only that, but since Google started indexing Mudcat, it is often faster to search IT for threads when you know certain terms. |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: GUEST,Tamah Ward Date: 16 Jul 11 - 02:03 PM John McKenzie: I saw that you had a post last year about Boatswain's Mate whistles. Do you still have any of those miniatures? Please contact me: tamah_ward@yahoo.com |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: MGM·Lion Date: 16 Jul 11 - 01:52 PM You can more simply take that initial step, either by clicking on your name on any post on any thread, or by clicking on Personal Page in the header menu following the link there to the 'view all your posts' option. ~M~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: Jim Dixon Date: 16 Jul 11 - 01:22 PM Autolycus: Click this link: http://mudcat.org/usersearch.cfm?who=autolycus. That will bring up a list of your 200 most recent posts. There is a button at the bottom of the page that will bring up the next 200, etc. Once you have displayed that page, I recommend you bookmark it. Give it a name you will remember; I don't think the default "Search Results" is very helpful. Once you have displayed that page, you can search it (ctrl-F) for words like "Obit." I am assuming you are looking for a thread you have posted to before. |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: ranger1 Date: 16 Jul 11 - 01:16 PM Trial and error, really. I typed "not so famous" into the search filter and set it to refresh "all". I imagine John did something similar. Then again, he might well have known exactly which thread he was looking for. Can't answer for him, though. |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: katlaughing Date: 16 Jul 11 - 01:15 PM If you go to the top of the threads and put in the search words, preferably just one or two you are certain were in the title, then be sure to use the drop down menu to choose a length of time, i.e. 1,3,7 days or more in months and years, then hit go you should be able to find it, esp. if you've set the age back a bit. If a thread hasn't had any recent postings, it won't show up unless you've set the age to search back a ways. Also, if you know of someone who posted to it, you can go to the Quick Links, use the drop down menu and scroll down to Old Adv. Forum Search, hit Go and fill in the boxes. OR, click on that member's name in any of their postings and that will take you to a list of all their postings which you can then search. And, in the regular search box up in the lefthand corner, if you click on Advanced, you can search by member name and subject. Hope that is all clearer than mud. If not, holler.:-) kat |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: autolycus Date: 16 Jul 11 - 12:46 PM Thanks both. I thought ranger had it, and John has the one. Btw, key-by-key, how does one find out such a thing? |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: John MacKenzie Date: 16 Jul 11 - 12:27 PM Or this? |
Subject: RE: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: ranger1 Date: 16 Jul 11 - 12:26 PM Hey autolycus: is this it? |
Subject: BS: Old thread and no personal page From: autolycus Date: 16 Jul 11 - 12:22 PM I wanted to find the recent thread about not-well-known-people obits. I get nothing right putting obit or obituary into search function; amd personal page is temporarily disabled. What do I do? |
