I just feel 8/2 will be yet another ordinary day. Hope I am not wrong, but I figure by 8/1 the ruling elites in DC will have gotten all the mileage and posturing they can out of the issue, and then, OK - here is a deal.

I shall wake up after (hopefully) a good night's sleep. I shall make my usual coffee, Brazillian bold, and have my usual pipe. I think on Tuesday, I will smoke some English type tobacco. I shall putter about the house, pay some bills, do some "clutter control," practice my set list for Thursday night. Later in the day, I will go to work where, I hope/expect there will be buildings and not a crater. But I do not work for the Fed.

As for the folks down the road (in DC), that is anyone's guess. If the Republican dream has come true, government will have vanished from the face of the Earth. And the former public employees will be staggering, zombie-like through the streets, looking for unemployment offices that no longer exist and food stamp distribution centers which also no longer exist.

I truly do not expect the debt ceiling to be raised, if that is what you asked.

Blooming date systems. I read Jack's post three times before realising he was not asking about Feb 8th.

I'm not sure what the effect of the US defaulting (if it goes that way) might be on the rest of the world but I don't expect there to be an instant one that would change my plans (just an ordinary day) for that date.
