Subject: Life Gits Teejus, Don't It From: Charles Colyer Date: 24 Sep 99 - 05:14 PM I heard this old tune on the radio a while back and thought it might amuse the seniors I entertain. Does anyone have the lyrics or a location where I might find them? I'm pretty sure this is the correct spelling for the title. Charles |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Life Gits Teejus, Don't It From: Joe Offer Date: 24 Sep 99 - 05:27 PM Sure thing, Charles - just put teejus in our Digital Tradition search box, or be lazy and click here. I like Doc Watson's recording of the song best. -Joe Offer, planning to retire next week and live that sort of life- |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Life Gits Teejus, Don't It From: Charles Colyer Date: 24 Sep 99 - 05:41 PM Thanks, Joe. I put in the title the way I wrote it up there and got the answer that it wasn't in the Digitrad! I enjoyed Doc Watson's version, also. Now, if I can just find that message in Deja news from the other guy who was looking for this I can pass along your helpful suggestion. I hope you've been keeping up your exercising. Retirement is a busy time of life requiring all the stamina you can muster. Charles, "retired" (sometimes the emphasis is on the last syllable) and trying to find the time (about ten lifetimes, at least) to accomplish all I would like to. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Life Gits Teejus, Don't It From: Sandy Paton Date: 24 Sep 99 - 11:17 PM It's also on Kendall Morse's Folk-Legacy recording titled Lights Along the Shore. 'Course he does it in a genuine downeast accent that gives it extra flavor. Sandy |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Life Gits Teejus, Don't It From: bseed(charleskratz) Date: 25 Sep 99 - 12:29 AM This is one of the verses from the Digitrad, copied and pasted: Danged ol' mule, he must be sick. I jabbd him in the rump with a pin on a stick He hunched his back, but he wouldn't lick Something cock-eyed somewhere.
"lick" should, of course, be "kick." |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Life Gits Teejus, Don't It From: Arkie Date: 26 Sep 99 - 01:15 AM I'm surprised this Carson J. Robison piece has not been recyled more frequently. It may have been his last flirtation with fame after a long career of producing songs about every major tragedy of his day. |
