Also from music hall:

IT'S ALL RIGHT IN THE SUMMERTIME

My old man is a very funny chap
He's an artist in the Royal Academy
He paints pictures from morning until night
Paints them with his left hand, paints them with his right
All his subjects, take a tip from me
Are very "Eve and Adam"y
And I'm the model that has to pose
For his pictures every day

Chorus: And it's all right in the summertime
In the summertime it's lovely
While my old man's painting hard
I'm posing in the old back yard
But oh, oh in the wintertime
It's another thing you know
With a little red nose, and very little clothes
And the stormy winds do blow

One day I am Cupid with a dart
And another day a fairy beautiful
I pose as Venus rising from the sea
In the water-butt with the water to my knee
Then he hangs me out upon the line
You see I have to be so dutiful
As I hang there, oh, he paints me as
An angel in the sky (Chorus)

My old man, oh, he plays a funny game
And I've only just begun to tumble him
All day long he's running out of paint
But the paint is whisky, don't you think it ain't
These are all the clothes I've got to wear
But I've made up my mind to humble him
I'll take a walk up the West one day
Just dressed up as I am (Chorus)

Written and composed in 1902 by George Everard & Alan Murray
Performed by Vesta Victoria (and Judy Cory)

There was a preacher who wanted to do something different to re awaken his congregation's interest in coming to church.
He announced that next Sunday, he wanted everyone to come dressed in such a way that others could guess the hymn they were thinking of when they dressed up.
Next Sunday, the first to show up was a beautiful, well endowed young woman, stark naked. When asked what she represented she said "Just as I am." Next came a young man wearing nothing but a skirt made of grass and weeds. Preacher asked what hymn he had in mind and he said, "I was thinking of "Bringing in the sheaves, but, if you don't get Just as I am out of here I'll be coming through the rye."

1812 (Derek Craft& Geoff Bodenham) (see link) used to sing one about being booked to do a gig at a nudist camp. Based on the concept of Django Rheinhardt & Staphane Grapelli gigging at same. In DR & SG's case they debated and decided to turn up nude. The audience had probably debated and turned up clothed.

Sadly 1812 have long stopped performing and Geoff I know died last year.

If you can find the lyrics it was a hoot. Can't remember the title.

I thought, "Who started this silly thread?" as I opened it and - lo and behold! The OP was me...

What's sad - like many of these older threads - is seeing the number of names from 5 years ago who don't seem to post much, if at all, any more.

I'd suspect that "Steel Drivin' Man" should be good for a chuckle or two to lighten the mood.

The CW "If I Said You Have a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me" likely wouldn't go over well with actual "naturists" as they tend to be rather "conservative" (in the non-political sense) with respect to sexual suggestiveness; but for a "pretend naughty" group sing (like some skinny-dippings) it might be okay.

"(Gimme That) Old Time Religion" sometimes includes:

Let me worship like the Dru-ids
Drinking stange exotic flu-ids
Runnin' naked through the wo-ids
It's good enough for me.

A question that arises is that if there are to be instrumentalists participating will there being anyone bold enough to play a squeeze box? (Even at arms length? - or maybe we should say "chest high"?)

John

Rambling, Gambling Willie

Come around you rovin' gamblers and a story I will tell
About the greatest gambler, you all should know him well
His name was Will O'Conley and he gambled all his life
He had twenty-seven children, yet he never had a wife
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

He gambled in the White House and in the railroad yards
Wherever there was people, there was Willie and his cards
He had the reputation as the gamblin'est man around
Wives would keep their husbands home when Willie came to town
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

Sailin' down the Mississippi to a town called New Orleans
They're still talkin' about their card game on that Jackson River Queen
"I've come to win some money," Gamblin' Willie says
When the game finally ended up, the whole damn boat was his
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

Up in the Rocky Mountains in a town called Cripple Creek
There was an all-night poker game, lasted about a week
Nine hundred miners had laid their money down
When Willie finally left the room, he owned the whole damn town
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

But Willie had a heart of gold and this I know is true
He supported all his children and all their mothers too
He wore no rings or fancy things, like other gamblers wore
He spread his money far and wide, to help the sick and the poor
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

When you played your cards with Willie, you never really knew
Whether he was bluffin' or whether he was true
He won a fortune from a man who folded in his chair
The man, he left a diamond flush, Willie didn't even have a pair
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

It was late one evenin' during a poker game
A man lost all his money, he said Willie was to blame
He shot poor Willie through the head, which was a tragic fate
When Willie's cards fell on the floor, they were aces backed with eights
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

So all you rovin' gamblers, wherever you might be
The moral of the story is very plain to see
Make your money while you can, before you have to stop
For when you pull that dead man's hand, your gamblin' days are up
And it's ride, Willie, ride
Roll, Willie, roll
Wherever you are a-gamblin' now, nobody really knows

I just thought that it might be appropriate to mention the monthly folk session in Todmorden that takes place at "Bare Arts".

It is an establishment that twins the brewing and sale of real ale with an art gallery of paintings of nudes, and is a very welcoming place to visit! It's easy to find as it's opposite the Morrison's supermarket and painted bright pink.

L.H., did you know this one? your reminded me of the last verse.

The Natural Girl For Me
Words and Music by Tom Paxton

All over this great big city,
Can't find a woman who's nice and pretty.
They all look like a page in a magazine.
Legs are long and they eat like a sparrow.
Figures stick to the straight and narrow.
Top and bottom are the same as in between.

[Cho:]
Show me a pretty little number,
When she walks, she rolls like thunder,
Eyes as deep and dark as the deep blue sea.
Round right here and round right there,
Pretty red lips and her very own hair,
Wrap her up, she's the natural girl for me.

Went down to a coffeehouse palace,
Met a little lady and her name was Alice.
She had friends and her friends had her it seems.
Face was dirty and her sweater was baggy,
Pants were tight and her hair was shaggy,
I've seen her kind on college football teams.

[Cho:]

Way up in a penthouse pretty,
Thirteen miles above the city,
I met a lady from a wealthy family.
She could cuss like a real longshoreman,
She was making eyes at the doorman.
She made a most unusual offer to me.

[Cho:]

Way up at a Broadway party,
Met a little lady who was very arty,
She took me home to see her studio.
She took out her paints and she whispered to me,
She said that she wanted to do me.
Some of that paint will never come off, I know.

[Cho:]

Hawk, you're right, of course. On both counts.

I can vouch for the non-extraordinary, non-sexual nature of nudist scenarios such as nude beaches.   In fact, I'd say beaches where people run around in thongs and string bikinis are much more sexually titillating than the nude beaches I've frequented. (It's kind of like clothing offers a sort of protection of personal space that often invites much more intrusion into such space than is accepted or tolerated when those barriers are removed.   People (especially men) do things such as staring at or even touching parts of people's anatomies far more openly and freely when everyone is wearing clothes than when they're nude.

But on count two, you're also right.   This is just a silly thread about what one might SING if we were all nude. : )
